Air defense in Suez canal

I have tried this and it has worked. Bought all fighters turn one. Then all bombers turn two by turn three england landed in France and the US had like 6 fighters, 2 bombers, 2inf a tank and art in france after england had secured it the previous round. US took italy next turn and game ended shortly after. It was a few years ago so i cant recall anymore specifics. The key is pooling all available aircraft and witholding from Op. Torch. Also England needs naval dominance which sometimes doesnt happen with a G1 carrier build

Not really.  The Allies have been given more fighters and fleet to compensate.  Notice the sub off Egypt is now a Destroyer?  Notice the Indian Ocean fleet?  And so on . . .

Yeah, I noticed the enlarged UK fleet, but I meant that the 2 hit kill applies to both offense and defense for the Battleship makes a difference.
The UK wasn’t attacking my Med fleet, as he thought “Well, he is weaker in attack then defense, so let him attack me.”…and I was holding off my attack on his Battleship for the same reason…

Well, it’s sort of obvious to us that have been playing Revised a while.  But when you think about it, why would the extra hit only apply to defense?  The extra hit is to reflect the fact the Battleship represents a MUCH larger set of surface ships than a destroyer, and that is true whether the fleet is attacking or defending.  And as for NOT attacking it, why on earth would Germany use the Med. fleet to attack, unless the likely result is annihilation of Allied fleet?  If you wait for the Germans to attack another fleet with the Med. fleet, you should be waiting quite a while in most cases.

This is absolutely right and not new discovery. In the very beginning several chapters of On War, Carl von Clausewitz has concluded the defense is stronger than attack in general. That’s why a war, although its nature is to use violence unlimitedly, can last for a long while and sometimes shows a medium-to-long-term stable status. The point is the defense itself can’t win a war. The purpose of defense is to dwarf off enemy’s force and to choose correct opportunity to launch counter attack.

Once air units engage in battle, they can hit and be hit by any unit in the territory.

The only exception of course is that SUBs cannot fire on FIGs or BOMs at all.

Submarines do not fight against air units.

Everything else - transports, subs, carriers, destroyers, battleships - do.  Of course, transports have no “attack” value, but transports can defend.

A battleship that is NEXT to a sea zone or land zone in which fighters are involved takes NO PART in that combat.  (unless for battleship bombardment, which you already know about).  So if you have a sub in one sea zone and fifty battleships in the next sea zone over, the lone enemy fighter that attacks your sub is perfectly safe.

when i was starting to play a&a a while ago, i had the same question about movement…

i went to the official site and it was a FAQ there…
they said something like:
“you can move 4 spaces in total. the possible ways are: 0 combat/4 non-combat; 1 combat/3 non-combat; 2 combat/2 non-combat; 3 combat/1 non-combat”
notice that you can only move 4 spaces in combat if you are attacking a seazone AND you have a carrier there to make a save landing (either the carrier was attacking, too, or the carrier moved there in your non-combat)
