You could always make a house rule to change that.  I’m sure most of us here have our own since we feel as strongly as you do about diffrent aspects of the game.

Well, Russia could divert enough forces from Karelia to Novo (or Moscow) to protect themselves from Japan (for a while) but this opens up Karelia to Germany.  If Karelia is held by Germany, then the Allies will be unable to reinforce Russia…until they can retake Karelia which could be very difficult to do on turn 3 or 4.  So maybe Russia falls on G5 instead?

I think a Power Asia bid of 12 (4 infantry) would make a more balanced game.

Assuming America has Heavies Japan can still defend its fleet for at least a few turns with 2bb cv 2ftrs. Japan can even purchase an additional carrier to help in this. But it isn’t certain that American Heavy bombers could reach the sea of Japan assuming Japan has pushed Russia back to Moscow. At the very least transports give Japan a few turns to roll tech in reponse to American heavy bombers, but when Japan has a few ICs on the board America can immediately nuke the Japanese.

Ah true. But you are thinking of it in the broad spectrum of the war in general. There are tons of movies out there about both theaters of war. The thing is, most movies about Europe cover the war there in general (not necessarily the entire war, but large chunks of it covering many battles). Movies about the Pacific usually focus on one or two, maybe three specific battles. Therefore, because Europe is given a wider span of battles, it always seems like the Pacific is left out, when in truth movies about the Pacific are a lot more specific to a certain battle or two.

I also like the idea of an IC in India; it allows some opposition to the Japanese where there would ussually be very little. If the USSR can take Manchuria with a minimum of casualties (say, one or two) then I would do so and build the IC. This forces Japan to make a tough decision; take back Manchuria or try for India, which is extremely difficult with the transport blocking an Amphib assult. If Japan goes after Manchuria they are forced to use their airforce to give the correct punch, weakening their opperations elsewhere.
