Germany & Italy attacked the Soviet Union - in Late 1942…
Soviet Union:
Since Germany and Italy did not attack until Late 1942, the Soviets were building up their defences on a massive scale.
Deep minefields, Soviet Guard Infantry units, Soviet Army Corps - and Red Army Conscription Infantry units were prepared in well defended positions all over the Eastern Front.
Japan:
Japan were fighting deep inside China - and by Late 1942 the last Chinese units were eliminated.
By then, the very large Japanese Army and Air Force were lined up in China along the Soviet frontier.
United States:
The US Navy had to prepare for the coming battles in the Atlantic against an overwhelming German Kriegsmarine.
In the Pacific Ocean US troops and air force reinforced the Philippines - and by Late 1942 USA declared War on Japan - and US Marines captured Caroline Islands.
United Kingdom:
British forces in Asia were reduced in numbers due to an effort in the Atlantic where the UK Navy had to deal with the German Kriegsmarine.
In Africa, the British fought against Italian units in North Africa - and against German troops that were transported by sea to the West coast of Africa where they landed unopposed…
Early 1943 & Late 1943:
In Early 1943, the German Army was reinforced on the Eastern Front - but the Soviet resistance was hard to overcome.
Japan attacked the Soviets in Early 1943 with a massive Army - but there were no reinforcements on the way to support this offensive.
The Soviets launched counteroffensives on the Eastern Front - and against the Japanese invaders.
By Late 1943 the Japanese invaders from China had been eliminated - and strong Soviet units had pushed the remaining Japanese units back into Chinese territories.
Only the Soviet Far East territories were under Japanese control at this point.
By the end of Late 1943, US and British troops had eliminated the last German units in Africa.
The Allied Navies in the Pacific surronded sea zone 6 (Japan) to prevent the Japanese Navy from launching an attack in Early 1944.
This was succesful in order to buy time for the US Navy to reorganize and build up for a counter attack against the Japanese Navy in Late 1944 and Early 1945.
At the beginning of Early 1944 the Military and Economic situation was hopeless for the Axis.
The Axis surrendered in Early 1944.
