    Just sending in the 5 bombers to attack your one destroyer and whatever planes you want to send up.

    Why do it?  First off, why not?  Could whittle away at your forces.  I have decent odds.  Secondly, the bombers get to land in S Italy when they are done, so they add to the defense.
