Hi Cary,
The ideal situation would be to have 7 players. Russia, Britain (West) and France, Britain (East), Anzac, China, USA, Germany, Japan and Italy. If we have 5 then 3 allied and 2 axis. When we play with 3, 2 are allied and one is Axis.
But, we are really adamant that all players are laid back and more interested in having fun than winning. We all try to win, but when it gets heated, we take a step back and drop a die to decide. Everyone has to be willing to accept the decision of either the die or an arbitration of the rule. Some will go a person’s way, some will not…
We really cannot have anger, knocking things about, throwing dice or being aggressive. Most of the pieces are hand painted (I’m consistently adding to the mass) and we really want to have fun.
We don’t require that everyone show up to each gathering, but those who don’t show, need to understand that their faction(s) will be played by others in their absence.
So I will defer to you as to how many people or which ones you think would fit well in what I describe.
If you are close to FM, perhaps you and those friends might want to come to my house on Saturday or Sunday this coming weekend and I can introduce you to new units and rules.
I am in the process of trying to capture all of the rules in a single document, but that is not complete. Because we are more interested in having fun, we give grace when mistakes are made and things are overlooked.
The new units and rules that may or may not be new to you:
9 Marines Airborne troops Heavy tanks Tank destroyers Heavy Tank destroyers. SS and Guard Infantry SS and Guard Mech infantry SS and Guard Tanks and Heavy Tanks Advanced Fighters Jets Heavy Battleships Heavy Cruisers Heavy Carriers Entrenchments Fortifications, Naval forts and Atlantic wall fortifications. Event cards- typically used to affect a single battle, or movement, or unit build. Action cards- an affect that lasts the entire turn, might affect all protagonists, but generally tend to be regional. Advanced submarines and wolfpacks.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten some and the R&D technologies encompasses some of what I mention above and many others not mentioned.
Give me a call or text at 972, 768 4149 or write my email so that we more easily communicate.
