So my group has completed a game where Japan went for America.  We figure that whether or not Japan wins is dependent on a few things.

I don’t remember whether the final assualt on WUS happened on J3 or J4.  I think it was J4, and they waited until J3 to attack Alaska?  Either way, the statistics were about a 45% chance for Japan to take WUS.  They needed some AA misses to throw it in their favor.

There really is little that the UK and ANZAC player can contribute to the defense of WUS.  The best thing for them to do is go crazy in the absence of the Japanese forces.  By the time America fell, the UK had liberated most of China, and had several rounds to build up a navy with the help of the DEI income.  Australia also had a bonus going on, adding 2 loaded carriers to supplement defense of the UK fleet.

Japan thought about going straight for Australia, but the UK fleet with transports(deploying from  Kwangtung and Kiangsu factories) was already threatening Japan.

While America had fallen, they only gained +10 income from America, +Mexico +Alaska, while giving up on their territories in the Chinese mainland.  They were being out produced by the Allies, and out of position to restablish a hold on the mainland.

play a few more games.  Japan should take Phillipenes right away on J1 and the US should not be able to fortify it.

If they do that though they also need to take the uk space along the china coast to prevent both us and uk from their NOs.

Okay, don’t have the rules in front of me so I  have another question.  US attacks a Jap  fleet with only subs.  Since the Jap fleet has a destroyer and the US doesn’t, do the Japanese subs in her fleet get a first strike attack and at what die roll. Totally confused with this rule.

My reading of the rules is that yes, the Japanese subs get first strike as the US doesn’t not have ASW provided by a destroyer.  Subs roll at a 1 for defense.  Roll for your sub stack, US removes hits (rolls of 1) from the board immediately.  Then US can roll for his remaining subs at 2 (for attack).

Maybe it will be short of set up pieces like AAP1940. And the set up and rule book will be incorrect like AAP1940. And no IPCs or reference cards like AAP1940.

WOW…now that is an interesting turn of events for the global game…should be VERY fascinating

Once again, I will echo swiss and say that going after USA first does not work, since apparently some aren’t reading the older posts.

Are you referring to old topics or old posts in this one? Because I read throught the whole topic.

You need 2 transports each to take both hawaii and phill, and in hawaii, you have 2 inf, 1 art, 1 tank vs 2inf 1ftr 1bmr, if the tactical scrambled to prevent bombardment. Thats 1 1 2 2’s and a 3 vs a 1 2 2’s and a 4. The US has a higher defense and the same number of hits. Even if you use a third transport, it would have to come from the carolines, giving only one extra infantry. That may barely win with a tank remaining.

Guess I’m wrong. :-) I’ll give it a few more trials, and may have done it slightly differently to how I recall (may/may not have used transport in both SZ6 and Carolines to assist in Hawaii. At the very least, I still think KUS first is a danger to the Allies, but maybe not so much as I thought previously. Thanks for the constructive criticism! No T1 attacks, please, its far too early. Just think about it, do you realy want USA to collect 62 IPC, UK to collect 37 IPC and ANZAC to collect 18 IPC when you still are on less then 30 IPC ?

You need to attack Kwangtung at the same time you attack Phillipines and Malaya. To do this, you will need to take control of FIC in T1, and then move your trannies into position for several attacks. In T1 you only have like 3 trannies. Your best opportunity to attack will be in T3, or maybe in T2. Not later, and not earlyer.

UK 37 is a huge lie

13 is more accurate, malay can be takes round 3
US + 40 is nothnig compared to what they lose
take kwantung with land forces :)
