Let me see what I can do as a NCM with the part of the fleet that didn’t participate in the invasion of Carol. It won’t affect Ita move.

I will lay a screen of dd’s to block the Jpn fleet from Carol, using the dd’s that didn’t participate in the land battle. There was no sea battle, so those dd’s really shouldn’t have moved during combat anyway. I have other stuff to do now and will be heading out, so may not revise NCM until this eve. Sorry about this. This fiasco doesn’t help my position in the game. But I hope to avoid complete disaster. I remember in a prior game that you. as USA, attacked Carol and I, as Jpn, sank your fleet. But the victory was offset by bad dice rolls that decimated my planes.

I edited NCM 1 dd from sz54>23 instead of sz33, and another dd from sz54>34 instead of sz33. I wanted to move my WC USA fleet closer to the action, but Wake doesn’t have a naval base, so it wouldn’t get me closer next turn and my fig from EC USA couldn’t go any further than the cv at Hawaii anyway. I don’t know what I would have done instead of invading Carol, I guess I just got impatient. The Jpn fleet by Phil is strong defensively with 5 ships that can take 2 hits and a naval base to repair them. So the only way to attack it is to lure it away. It doesn’t have and doesn’t need many support ships while in harbor. Jpn does have other ships scattered. Now USA dd’s are scattered and will be short-lived. Jpn can make an all air attack on the US fleet at the expense of letting other targets go. But there’s no real need to attack the US fleet. A limited air attack would have poor odds, as the US has 3 ships that can absorb hits and be repaired.

No problem with using tt instead of cru, easier to sink. I think that the 3 inf in Iraq should become Italian. That might affect your NCM decisions. Italy getting a cv really improves it’s ability to attack and protect the fleet away from home. And it will have even more cash to spend next turn.

If it wasn’t for having to use its air and fleet to protect the US fleet in Carol, Anz could have sank the Jpn dd & sub blockading Java with a dd and 3 figs and then landed reinforcements. The French considered taking over UK and re-establishing their claim to the British throne. If they could just get the Bri garrison to go overseas.

I rushed US in both Pacific and Europe and got burned. I followed your example of building airbase in Gib and putting in Bri figs, but it didn’t work out. Ger move to Bel was smart. If you had gone to W Ukr, Rus could have reinforced Bry from Rus and you would be stuck. In Bel, with Ita able to leapfrog, Ger can bypass Bry and hit Mos with tank/mech. If Rus retreats to Mos, Ger can send mobile units into Ros, etc. It would be hard to contain you. Rus could gamble in Bel, with about 1/4 chance of win. But failing and retreating would be bad. I have to think about this. May be late before I take my turn.

You played Italy well. I wish that I had put both Bri tt’s by Egypt to threaten Italy. The figs can’t quite reach and I have no bombers. Taking Iraq will have to be Bri big achievement this turn. Bri doesn’t have enough cash to build a fleet in UK and reinforce Egypt and Persia.

Before dice, changing purchased cv to bomber, 2 inf. I couldve your fleet at 57% odds but I dont think it’s worth it. You will of course build at least more than half on Europe side so I reckon I have time to build up.
