    For what it’s worth, this was the game I was most worried about and spent most of my time on. My scramble dice consistently sucked, you got Egypt early in what my calculations showed was a 13% battle, and I was never really able to get proper support to Moscow due to having to recapture it.

    If I’d have remembered to put down a blocker to protect my Japanese fleet, could have been a different result. Would have been an easy victory if I hadn’t have missed those two bombers in Moscow and lost Berlin.

    Re: Egypt. My calculator says 36%. I think my plan was to hit it again next turn, unless I got lucky, which I did.

    It would not have mattered if your fleet was intact. If you had put down a blocker, I would have deployed my fleet to slow you down while  flying 5-10 fighters and two ground units per turn into Hawaii and piling another 10 infantry per turn into Western US. Each fighter I deploy to Hawaii requires you to bring another loaded transport to the attack – by spending 10 IPCs I make you spend 14 IPCs, and that’s essentially a win for me. Since I was making more money than you and putting it all into the Pacific, by the time you made any headway at all UK would have been spending 60 per turn to recapture India and start China up again.

    (If you don’t believe me, go back to J14, put the blocker down, and we can play it out from there. It wouldn’t take that long – as you can see, India is going to be liberated within three turns from the current position because you have to spend every IPC you have to get your 7th victory city, and if you spend money to try to save India that’s money you can’t spend trying to take Hawaii and San Francisco.)

    You were doomed by your G10 deployment of forces – if you had pulled everything back to Germany instead of holding it lightly and trying to set up for a counterattack (I guess on West Germany and Northern Italy?), France would never have been able to deprive you of your G11 build. From there it was just a matter of time – the US could go full Pacific from that point forward. It also helped greatly that on US 11, 12, and 13 I built fleet while you concentrated on trying to build a force to take ANZAC, so my fleet achieved parity and then became a lot stronger.

    Something else that I think hurt you is that balanced mode requires you to have that 7th vc if Berlin has fallen. It also requires me to capture all three capitals to win instead of just two, but if it hadn’t been for that 7th vc the game might have gone differently.
