    That was some sea battle.  It was a victory, but not as decisive as it could have or should have been.  Allies lost 178 PU, Jpn 105, for a net +73.  Equal to a whole turn’s income for U.S.  Jpn attacked with 22 units, attack of 71 but inflicted only 9 hits instead of 12.  Allies defended with 15 units, defense of 33, but inflicted 8 hits instead of 5.5. This forced me to sink 2 carriers. Jpn inflicted 11 hits on round 2, more than on round 1.    The key to the battle was Paulau.  7 fig/tb could land there, so only needed 7 car slots for the other planes.  A normalized die roll would have let Jpn keep at least one more carrier and land more planes on Paulau.  If you had used the Amer bomber to take out the garrison at Paulau and Aus invaded it, Jpn could not have used the 7 fig/tb or 3 bombers that couldn’t have landed anywhere else.  Why did you attack the dd by Java, but not follow up with an Aus invasion of Java or Sum?  I didn’t amphib attack the isle because if Aus didn’t scramble (which it didn’t) Jpn couldn’t have taken the isle; and the planes needed to support the invasion, would have taken up car slots.  W/o the amphib, I was able to keep all my planes that were in China, where they successfully pushed back the borders.  Jpn now has 27 ground troops in China/SE Asia vs only 25 for the Allies.  Jpn is outproducing ground troops and can bring back more air support.

    As to why Jpn DOW Rus: Ger couldn’t stop the north convoy, so Rus would have gotten 3 convoy N.O. for 6 PU w/o Jpn.  Now Rus gets for 8 PU north and Persia convoys, but minus 3 territory loss, for a net 5.  Jpn gains 3 terr PU, which over time will compensate for units needed to maintain the blockade. Jpn won’t go any further inland, as activating the Mong rule wouldn’t be worth it.

    Unfortunately for me, the Java sub couldn’t reach the sea battle.  You lost the battle, but it could have been much worse, even game changing.  A normal die roll would have allowed Jpn to tilt 2 car instead of sinking them, and their planes could have landed on Paulau.  As it is, the surviving fleet has enough defense to destroy separate U.S. and ANZ attackers while taking minimal damage.  Tilted cars would have added to the defense.  A favorable die roll would have meant few if any Jpn plane losses and 4 cars, half of them damaged.  The Malay fleet split to protect the tt and car.  Your bomber has a long reach, so I figured the bb would win that battle and it did.

    I knew that the bomber would lose but a hit meant Anz planes could strafe it while Anz landed in java. Now i need the sub to come with to kill BB and TT or roll the dice and hope for best. I forgot abt your sub off of iceland which i was going to attack with american destroyers. Minus three IPCs for UK, sadly  :|

    I also forgot whether Aus tt could amphib with just a sub.  I thought about Jpn bb picking up marine and capturing Queensland.  But I couldn’t keep it, and Java would be undefended.  :-D

    Ger and Jpn subs blocking convoy N.O.s only last 1 turn before being sunk or chased.  Europe 1940 didn’t have the 5 PU N.O.s for taking Hol/Nor or N. Afr.  We could trade invasion and counterattack every turn in Fra and it would be profitable for U.S. between N.O.s and terr value.  Allies seem to have gotten overpowering quicker than in Europe 40.  Usually wasn’t worth Ger trying to attack U.S. by Gib, so just build in Paris.  Don’t know how to threaten U.S. fleet.  A fleet of subs built E of Den could be blocked by a single dd.  If built W. of Den, could be sunk at little cost.  Air attack alone would be too costly with dd and cv taking hits.  Your strategy of lots of cv’s not fully loaded seems to be working.
