Simon, Italy mainly reneged on joining the Central Powers during ww1 because of their fear of British blockade. Most countries at the time were not self sufficient in food production… the Germans nearly starved all to death thanks to blockade, even with access to all of Europe and its booty. Blockade is a superweapon.

I thought you meant the economics of Axis vs. Allies in the game.The economic situation of the USA would have been just fine with blockades.
