2017 League General Discussion Thread

Good idea!  Legion 386 is a friend of mine and I know he wants to play again.  I have told him about BM and he wants to try it.  I know his life schedule has prevented him from playing for a while but I think he is close to coming back.  I remember playing Mitler and Ditka and I seem to recall them disappearing mid-game.  But I can PM them to see if I get anything.

If the idea is to get more games happening, how about changing the rules for 2018 so that the PPG is calculated on games played + 1. That would reduce the incentive to stop playing when you have as good a rating as you are likely to get. The downside would be that people would change rating pretty often particularly at the start of the year.

Of course, if I play as many games then as I have this year, it would also help me  :evil:

I believe the main idea is to get as many players as possible in the league. We had plenty of discussions about the rating system and so far the ratings usually reflect the individual players strength quite well, so most people agree that the rating system fulfills its function.

Does anybody have MrRobotos mail address? Best case an address that he uses regularly, otherwise the dice mail. PM please.

Gentlemen,

I am wondering if we should start a little reactivation campaign to introduce BM to inactive players that might like it.

I am afraid the community might shrink as BM is a very exclusive and even more complicated version of G40. I am worried that the amount of players might decline.

The more players participate in the league, the more fun, I guess that’s for sure.

Therefore I believe it is worth a try to inform former active players about BM and invite them to rejoin the league action. They can of course also continue playing Vanilla, but I thought BM might be a good trigger to get in touch.

The point is: I guess we can get the dice mail addresses from most of them, however often these are junk mail addresses that are not checked for regular messages. That’s why I have the idea that everybody picks some players he has some “better” contacts from.

What do you think in general?

Please find a list of inactive players below which, according to my memory showed some significant activity in the previous years. It might contain players that are playing this season but have not finished a game yer. In case you want to take over to reactive that player, just drop a comment.

Although I do only partly have “good” contacts, I am gonna try to reactivate the following players:

Oh boy, I am afraid we will have a diplomatic scandal soon and Trump tries to bail out US citizens that are held hostage by Putin. And frankly, when KILL KILL KILL Karl visits Russia, I am not sure if Putin will be right with that arrest  :evil: :wink: :mrgreen:

Any time, because it all goes by when the game is completed.  So has nothing to do with when they start.

If you make sure your opponent agrees you should be good.  I mean, even if you finish before January 1, you can have the loser wait and report it in January.

Anyways, if we ask -real- nice; I bet we could get Djensen to send out a server wide message via email; inviting all members to play in the 2018 league, with maybe some basic instructions how to get tripleA setup.

I think you’d see a bunch of new people; and some old people return.  Even if %1 of people responded; that’s 100 Users.
