ANZAC-ification!

This modular overlay for G40 Lite adds ANZAC as a potentially playable power, giving them three extra IPC to play with for a total of 10:

ANZAC roundels and a recolor for Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, and the Solomons. New Zealand boosted to 2 IPCs. Northern Territory boosted to 2 IPCs Western Australia boosted to 1 IPC

Analysis and initial thoughts on mechanics/impact:

Removes 7 IPCs from the UK income, reducing total purchasing power but focusing colonial spend by removing Aus as a distraction/target for spending. Forces direct Australian investment by the Allies, but also… Caps direct Australian investment by the Allies at max 10 IPCs/turn Forces Japan to pay slightly more attention to South Pacific theater Adds 3 IPCs to the board and to the Allies total income, but silos it off into a minor power which have a greatly diluted effect on the game due to concentration of force principles

Sounds like a fun project.  The fundamental problem you’d have to solve, however, is the fact that the country names and – even more problematically – the country borders that existed historically in WWI were in some cases quite different from what they were in WWII.If you make them accurate for WWI, you’ll eventually end up in an alternate-history situation in which you’re fighting WWII on a WWI map with WWI powers as players.  It can also be argued that the political extremism of the 1920s and 1930s that eventually led to WWII was a direct result of the way WWI ended (specifically, the Versailles Treaty), and that if you alter the end of WWI then you alter the situation that eventually led to WWII.  That’s fine if working in an alternate-history environment is something you’re comfortable with; you simply have to be aware that you’re dealing with alternate history.

In terms of the map problem, perhaps the only option that would cover all the bases accurately, regardless of the political situation at any given moment, would be to use a simple map that is purely topographical rather than political in its territorial divisions.  A supplementary element could be to add overlays (drawn on large acetate sheets, or something similar) that provide political borders which can be adjusted from decade to decade.

I have lots of customization ideas that I can’t see myself creating due to time, resources, or enthusiasm. However, I would like to share them with this community in the hopes that a customizer will like the idea and create it for themselves. I don’t care for any kind on monetary reimbursement if you make money from it, all I ask is that you share with us pictures of your creation.

Cribbage board design on a wooden Aircraft Carrier model used as an Axis & Allies Income Tracker

My vision is of a wooden model aircraft carrier, and on the flight deck is a cribbage board like design where cribbage pegs are used to track income during an Axis & Allies game. I would use 3 peg holes per numerical value and have each nation represented by a colored peg. Black - Germany, Red - Russia, Orange - Japan etc…

Has anyone made any counters/Labels for the HBG miniatures?  Something like they use for Struggle for Europe and Pacific.

I’m not sure to what you’re referring.  Are you talking about replacing the plastic miniatures with tokens? Are you talking about identifying labels which would be be put on the board next to the plastic miniatures?  Are you talking about naval task force markers and their land counterparts?
