@axis-dominion:
i think this game is over. you have me on the defensive everywhere, and i just can’t break through. i’m way too busy right now to try to spend really long turns as i am finding myself doing.
letting your italy dominate the med like that is just impossible for me to overcome. you’re extremely good at keeping it locked down once you have it, and it seems like i should be able to punish you with a stronger russia, but somehow i keep failing to do that.
i’d appreciate advice on how i can fix these problems…losing egypt and gib like that, not being able to push harder with russia, and so on. i’m constantly finding myself in trouble in the pac, and not being able to make enough progress in europe to compensate.
It’s unfortunate, but in situations like Axis taking Gib and having the tps and airforce to reinforce it no matter what you buy as Western Allies, US needs to do some light skirmishes and skirt around that whole sector close to Gib, and go for Norway, like you did, while buying mostly Pacific. Once Norway is secured, Europe doesn’t really need any additional investments other than the factory, and you just need to support UK landing on the coast/Norway, since Russia should be able to keep Germany relatively at bay. Meanwhile, as you get Norway you should be at least on par with the Japanese navy, which then prevents an Anzac rush which permits Anzac to buy tps and navy and trading islands and tps with Japan, strengthening your position in the Pacific.
Of course, it would be ideal to keep at least either Gib or Egypt, and that’s pretty much always possible short of dedicated German spending for it. Sacrificing a tp to make prevent the capture/make it costly can be worth it in the long run. Or you could Taranto, that’s always effective.
With Russia, I’m not a fan of lots of mechs, though admittedly you did make use of them often. I just think with mostly art instead you could deadzone Rostov, though you would lose Novgorod in the process of course without the fast.
In the Pacific you didn’t buy enough small ships, especially subs. You didn’t even have the air to fill your existing carriers, and more subs would probably be more cost efficient in offense and in defense considering the composition of your navy.
In any case, let’s not count this game in our series, with the edit and you having limited time. And anyway we surely have months before I get to 40 games for our last one to count, so we have time :wink:.
