Congrats on the successful funding! That’s no small feat, especially in the board game world. Looking forward to seeing more details on Song for War when you get the chance to share. Always interesting to see how different designers approach WWII mechanics, especially in the Med Theater, which doesn’t get as much focus. Good luck with the production phase, it sounds like quite the ride.

I looked that game up on HBG’s site and I noticed something that I had ignored on something else I bought - it may be what you need. In the description of the game, in the first paragraph, is a critical sentence: “Game rules and setup charts will be provided by a download link after purchase.”

Assuming you created an HBG account before you bought the game, your account on HBG has a link to download the game rules on your account page. Login to your account and go to the order you placed to get the game. Take a look on the order form. The line for your game should include a line that says: “Spanish Civil War Game Click Here to Download”. If you click on the “Click Here to Download” you will get one of two response: either a download of the pdf with the game rules, etc… or notice that says: “Download Expired”. If you get download expired, open a trouble ticket and ask for a new download link. You will have to wait for Doug, et al., to come back from the holidays, but they are attentive and helped me out (gave me another copy of my download) when I complained about my problem.

Gopher I would follow krieghund’s link if you are playing the Xeno board game. If this is question regarding TripleA WAW variants I can’t really help I’m not  an experienced TripleA user and I’m not even sure if TripleA’s clone is a “genuine clone” as WWII is a “clone” of Axis & Allies. Try posting in the “variants” section of the A&A.org site, you may find your answer there.

Personally I never bought or played any of the Xeno games or pieces but at one time they filled a niche where A&A was absent as well as Table Tactics.

I think the best WW2 FPS of all time is Battlefield 1942, they need to remake it with the frostbite 2.0 engine.

I was refering to regular ol’ Victory.  I have Pacific Victory but I haven’t played it.  It’s combat system is based on regular Victory.  It does look like an interesting game.

I’ve always found the history of the War card game quite interesting, especially when you compare it to Solitaire. War is one of those classic card games that is so simple yet engaging, much like Solitaire. Both games have been around for ages and have a sort of timeless appeal. War is thought to date back to at least the 19th century, and it is often one of the first card games kids learn because of its simplicity. Solitaire, on the other hand, has a rich history that goes back even further, with origins in Europe in the late 18th century. What I find fascinating about War is that it relies heavily on luck, while solitaire requires a bit more strategy and patience. This makes each game unique in its way. War is straightforward and fast-paced, which is great for quick, casual play. Solitaire can be more relaxing and requires a bit more thought, which can be very satisfying when you finally win. Both games have their charm and offer different kinds of enjoyment. War might not have the depth of solitaire, but it has its own appeal in its simplicity and the way it can quickly decide a winner. I think both games have survived for so long because they are easy to learn and play, making them accessible to everyone, regardless of age or skill level.
