In answer to #1:
No.  LZ’s have to exist for everything sent in.  “Planning” on losing a fig in terms of counting LZ’s would make 1 of the 3 FIGS a “kazee”

In answer to #2:
Anything NOT used in the naval battle CAN be used for the amphib.  The only thing that can participate in the naval battle that also is part of the amphib is the tranny, and that only to offload troops (thus not actually IN the amphib battle).

1 piece, 1 fight, per round.

So if your bomber did not fight in the naval battle, but has the range to reach the amphib attack area, it CAN be used.

In 2nd edition rules – a surviving fighter in this scenario can only land if an island (completely surrounded by water) exists in that SZ.

In 3rd edition rules – when an aircraft carrier is sunk. The surviving aircraft on it can attempt to locate and land on a friendly island, territory, or aircraft carrier. These aircraft have one movement point to do so.

As far as the AA-gun question, its never come up w/ us–we just go by memory (AA guns are not usually captured then recaptured then captured again). If you need help, I suppose you could place a territory marker under the AA gun to show ownership. You’d have to be careful though not to confuse it w/ the marker of who owned the territory! Disputes between allies are very bad in A & A :wink: !

Xi kindly clarified for me in another thread that you couldn’t build an IC with money from the bid. Are there any other bidding related tournament rules?

what happens if you’re bid doesn’t divide exactly into new units? which country gets the remaining IPCs? axis players choice i presume? can you buy tech rolls with the IPCs? what about AAs (not that you’d want to, but still)? Can you place newly purchased fighters on ACs? can you place german units on japanese starting positions and vice-versa?

Sorry, but no dice. Besides, chess is so much different from A&A. At least in chess, the moves are preprogrammed and don’t have to worry about supply lines!

The whole axis and allies game is all about chance calculation and strategy, so I think computerplayers should be better than humans if the right strategy is implanted.
