    OK, I just “lost” another game right before this one because of the victory city rule.  I know it’s a rule, and most people on here play by it.  I keep forgetting about that aspect of the game because I’ve been playing A&A in various forms for 30 years and no one around here ever uses it.  We just plays until the other fellow throws in the towel.

    So, before I bother with my turn do I even have a chance, or is this one over on that technicality?  I don’t know the particulars of how it works, where you start counting VCs from, or when.

    So, here are my thoughts on that. I think before a game starts that kind of clarification needs to be made, especially if it’s in antithesis to the rules of the game that most people play by. I’m in no way against the idea of playing until the other guy quits, and I think it adds a different, even more fun element to the game - happy to start one of these with you post this game.

    The above said, my strategy from the beginning was geared towards attaining the VCs. If VCs were irrelevant, then I would have made many different choices throughout the game, as I’m sure you understand. I don’t like winning games on technicalities, but since VCs are the endgame, I don’t see this as a technicality.

    I hope my position here makes sense?

    Sounds reasonable. I’m in no way insinuating that you didn’t win the game fair and square, and I would love to play a no VC game, too (a man’s game  :evil:).

    Still, I’m having a hard time figuring out if this game is actually over.  I think it might be because I can’t take back Egypt this round; however, maybe if I can take Tokyo with some fluky dice then it’s not over?  See my confusion?  I’m having a hard time getting my head around the victory city particulars as I never play with them.

    My main reason for the message was to get confirmation on this matter…. and to express my disgust at losing a game I thought I had in the bag  :-P

    I don’t want to sink mental energy into turns this round if it’s all for nothing anyway.

    So if there’s a chance that the game will continue by the US taking Tokyo I’ll keep playing.  If it’s hopeless then I’ll just post your win, and if you’re into it we can start bidding on a no VC match.

    Yeah, this one is over unfortunately. When it gets to Germany’s turn, with 8 VCs in hand, it will automatically trigger victory.

    Let’s get started on another one, and in the options we can “uncheck” the auto victory setting so we can play on as men were meant to, unto death or capitulation!
