  • I once had a 99.9+% chance of taking Moscow with a combined Japanese bomber + German land force attack.  AA gun fire shot down more than half of the dozen Japanese strafers; the remaining ones all missed.  I still had a 98% chance of winning, but the dice goddess was still against me.  Nothing that you can do when you have a perfect plan but failed dice rolls!

  • Is it time to call this a game, and flip sides?  That bad dice rolls for two rounds near Moscow was a killer for the Axis.  With Italy gone and Japan off the mainland, I don’t see a way to withstand the US economy backed up with Russian infantry.

  • It was a good game.  I made a bunch of mistakes but the weakness of Japan allowed me to focus 100% in Europe.  What is the thinking on J1 in balance mode games?  Definitely J3 allows India to become too strong.

    It has been my understanding that J3 is pretty standard.  Even J4 is common.  But I wonder if this is a case of the consensus being wrong.

    J1 is super risky in BM, moreso than normal - because the USA gets access to tons of money right off the bat.

    Still, when it works …


  • I just hate all of that money if the Allies have the money islands for 3 full turns.  That sounds ridiculous to do a J4…  anyway, scrambles Sir?
