  • I have to agree that the start of BM is more random than the traditional game with a typical bid.  Africa and France can be enormous swings.  It is very conceivable for Egypt to fall on I1 or I2 with bad dice rolling.

    It opens up the game in a lot of ways, I think.  Unlike a bid game, which is very predictable, all kinds of stuff can happen in a Balanced Mod one.

    I’ve been the Allies when Egypt got taken early on, and I usually win those games.  I tend to win with Japan, but you get the idea.


  • Japan winning means that Germany was doing well enough that the US had to spend more heavily on that side.  I find that Russia is much stronger in BM due to the extra income and can much more easily defend Moscow.  An extra couple of infantry a round makes a huge difference.

    THanks for allowing the edit.  Playing at work, I miss stuff in my rush.

    And wow again.  Bombing the airfields was such a Hail Mary play.  Can’t believe it worked!
