    Subs can’t hit subs. In fact, the engine would have taken it as an automatic casualty if it could. But even SS need DD to hit other SS. A crazy (if you ask me), but valid, rule in this game.

    @Pac:

    Each attacking submarine conducting a Surprise Strike rolls one
    die. Attacking submarines that roll a “2” or less score a hit. After
    the attacking player has rolled for all attacking submarines, the
    defender chooses 1 sea unit (submarines can’t hit air units) for
    each hit scored and moves it behind the casualty strip. (Note:
    undamaged capital ships that are hit only once are not removed.)

    And later:

    Note: In both cases, attacking or defending, transports can be
    chosen as casualties only if there are no other eligible units.
    Submerged submarines can’t be chosen as casualties since they
    have been removed from the battle.

    So when it says “sea units” it is clearly not referring to surface warships

    Let me take a look at the rules when I get a chance - there may also be an issue with triplea battle generator. There’s no way I would’ve chosen to lose your CR rather than your SS unless it didn’t give me the option to. I’m sure you would’ve wanted the extra punch. If it proves there was an error that would leave you a CR and 2 FTrs against my FTR Tac and BMB which means you would roll an extra die in the last battle at 3.
