16L Adam514 (axis) vs axis-dominion (allies) Balance Mod

  • especially since, as u say, italy is all that much more powerful in a SL game.

  • yah but then UK can never make a bold move like that? it starts to take away from the variety of options that currently exist in the standard ed. if SL is overpowered, then no one will ever take a risk and scramble…plz don’t add that NO. plz

    @Adam514:

Well UK scrambled and bought a fac and bought out of South Africa… I would be worried if sealion wasn’t the right play in that situation.

  • UK will then always be forced to heavily guard, only making italy that much more powerful. buying a fac in egypt becomes quite risky.

  • GG dudes. this was a very fun game to spectate (especially comparing it to the parallel universe of Axis-Dom vs. Kid). I think these sealion games have been particularly fun.

UK doesn’t need to heavily guard, all it has to do is be cautious if Japan doesn’t declare turn 1. If you bought 3 mechs out of South Africa instead of the fac I wouldn’t have sealioned, it’s just that a fac there severely undermines Italy if UK is allowed to produce units there (and the fac makes Egypt a lot more attractive), hence the sealion. And it’s significantly easier for US to liberate London without worrying about the income being plundered again, so if vanilla sealion wasn’t attractive from the get go, mod sealion is even less so.

  • at the very least, there shud be many more SL games in BM to collect more data on whether it’s necessary to add that NO. doesn’t germany have enough NOs as it is?? most likely, italy will get strong and take egypt while the allies struggle to recapture london, and then germany will get the NO for egypt.

i’ll be happy to contribute more SL games so u guys can get more data.

Yeah nothing is certain yet, you don’t have to worry for now.

In our game though Italy got Egypt only at round 6-7, about the same time UK was liberated. Ideally, all out sealion from Germany should not be an optimal play, but it should be optimal if UK gets greedy with its movement and purchases.

Phew. I’m relieved to hear you say that about the inevitability of Italy falling! Was starting to worry about our game.

I’m not convinced the London NO is needed or desirable. But keepin an open mind. These games have been instructive.

  • inevitability of Egypt falling to Italy* (typo)

  • Indeed the SL games are fun. Glad to be of help. Now play your turn already :)

Adam I’d like a rematch as allies again whenever you’re up for it.

Adam, outta curiosity, would u characterize the Egypt FAC as “greedy” in and of itself (like regardless of UK’s other moves)? In other words, should the UK1 FAC always implicate sealion as a viable option?

  • '19 '17

It’s pretty greedy, but with other cautious UK moves (buying the rest out of London, not scrambling, etc) I wouldn’t sealion. Is sealion viable if UK is cautious apart from the fac buy? Probably not, which might be a small problem.

Yah, i agree that its probably not viable right now, under that scenario (unless, perhaps, the tranny in 106 died, and UK trantoes)
