Say, has anyone heard how Wayne (aka dawg) is doing? I hope all is well. I’m not sure what to do with his tourney games at this point, so any feedback/news is appreciated.
I sent him an email last week, but haven’t heard back from him yet. I would put his games on hold until he recovers well enough to resume playing again…hopefully that won’t be too much longer.
I don’t mind putting his games on hold if we have a time frame in which we can expect him back. He is holding up a lot of games right now however, so if it might be like more than 4 weeks or so I’d ask him to join in the next tournament instead of holding for him (since Dizz considers starting twice a year that might not take too long)…
Or find a sub for him. But agree that we probably need to put some sort of time table around it otherwise the tournament would eventually come to a halt.
I just heard from a friend of Wayne and he expects Wayne to be back in a week or two. I currently have two tournament games on hold with him and am in favor of waiting the two weeks, since we’ve already had a couple of players drop out of the tournament.
Waiting 2 weeks is fine with me.
Sounds great, we will give until the weekend of 4/16-17 to give time for Wayne to file his taxes and get back on his game saddle. :mrgreen:
I would love to be able to start two of these per year, but it looks like they may have to be something like 9 months apart (at the rate we are going). I hope you guys are interested in a second one! I think a good plan would be to wait until we are into the finals in the brackets (or at least have half of them over, something like that) and then the next one will start much slower – I’m thinking the first bracket on the start date, and then start the others every two weeks for 14 weeks. This will allow us to finish up other games as new brackets start, and will also allow for making sure people are starting the first brackets before placing them in later ones.
Do you guys have any suggestions for improvement? I’m thinking that we will replace TAW with something like Domination 1914 No Man’s Land – take a look at that one and let me know what you think, it looks like a very interesting WWI map with global conflict.
I apologize for being a bit slow on my turns but I’m almost over the hump for tax season, so that will change soon… 8-)

I started a game of Dominion 1914 against the AI and I like the map and units, but the game wasn’t giving the artillery support bonus to Russian infantry or cavalry…so that would have to be corrected before I would consider playing that game.

Was that the actual “Domination 1914: No Man’s Land” game, or a different iteration of the 1914 series? I will test that out too if it’s the no man’s land, or redrum may be able to tell us so better details. :)

After reviewing your comments on Domination 1914: No Man’s Land, it seems to me that the game is functioning properly when I load it. Did you notice that conscripts are supportable, but start with a 0 attack base (not 1)? So, if you send a conscript, artillery, and cavalry into a battle, it will upgrade the conscript from 0 to 1 for attack, showing attack dice of 1 + 1 + 2 (4 for the 3 units).
Please check this for me and let me know what you find! I don’t want to use any flawed game – however, this game looks great, and perhaps the recognition of artillery support is just perception.

Let me check again…I thought cavalry was supportable also, but I didn’t get that either the time I played against the AI.
It seems to be ok now…must have been the conscript thing that had me confused.
Very good – the map really looks like fun imho.
Say, question for Whackamatt and dawgoneit – did you guys ever start your Total Ancient War game? That whole bracket is waiting for a result, and I didn’t see a link (but that could be due to me being old lol).
