Almost all of them should be able to be printed exactly as posted - at 400 DPI. This would match the board. If your map is larger than the OOB board, you would have to scale yourself to match. The OOB board is 24 x 46in, so your printouts should be scaled by whatever the ratio is of the dimensions of your map to the original board’s 24 x 46in.

@Azimuth yeah, I understand the challenge, I’m a graphic designer and I was playing around with a circular map design when I stumbled upon yours. I still might finish my design as I was incorporating some map changes I found interesting. But so far I think I’ll need some blow up boxes or something to make it work at a reasonable size.

Not much to say just sharing a map I made. As you can see it is heavily inspired by the War Room map, “hand drawn” and set to correspond to the original AA50 map 1:1.
This map is 100 cm in diameter or about 39 and a half inches.

You can see how it fits the units in the “images” section on BGG!

As we have time we’re working on adding things to it.  It’s a slow process (with full time jobs, family obligations AND the gaming news and sales business) but it’s getting there.

Oh… I do believe I understand now. And yes, your best option is probably to spray them to match the correct nation (as best you can anyway). If you do not want the ones you cannot use, you could list them in the Marketplace section of the forum and see if anyone wants to buy or trade for them.

You could have painted at the borders, IPC values, territory names etc. on the glass. That way you could easily use the 3D map for different games by changing the glass overlay :)

I think that having different sheets of painted glass for different games would be an expensive proposition.  I don’t know how much Rorschach’s setup cost him, but the acrylic sheet which covers my own AA50 table set me back over a hundred bucks.

Yeah, I originally was going to etch all the borders onto the acrylic, but when you’re looking at $50 (give or take) per sheet for this size it would be far too expensive.  But, to be honest, the sheet is so close to the table anyway there is absolutely no mistaking the territories, so it’s all good.

And this way, if we want to play a different game, we just pop in a flat MDF panel underneath instead of the AA50 board and you’re good to go!

The entire table (not counting countless hours of time) cost me about $150 … still no legs on it though.

And, Jeremy and I finally finished our game.  17 rounds, 9 weeks (about an hour and a quarter, hour and a half a week) … Allied Victory when the Brits waltzed into a sparsely defended Berlin.
