Advance Notice - Next Two Battle of Britain Dates

@djensen Hi Dave. That sounds great. It would be fantastic if you could stay the day and play, but even a pop in visit would be good.

The next one is this coming Sunday. After that I will set the date for the next quarterly event and let you know when it is. We are probably looking at September to avoid summer family holidays. If you want to let me know your availability September/October I will try to accommodate you.

I’m hosting an Axis & Allies tournament Saturday, Oct. 2 at Apple Valley Lake, Ohio (near Mt. Vernon). I am looking for 6 or more players. I hope you & any friends you know who like to play can join.
Origins Gamefair in Columbus will not be hosting an Axis & Allies event this year so hopefully this will be a good alternative for any players that were looking forward to competing at Origins.
Following are details:

1rst Annual Battle of Apple Valley Lake
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 2. Games start at 10 am.

WHERE: Floral Valley Community Center. 850 Crestrose Dr., Howard Ohio 43028.

Apple Valley Lake is about 60 minutes northeast of Columbus.

WHAT: A fun, casual 4 to 8 team Axis & Allies tournament. We will be playing the Axis & Allies 50th Anniversary Edition. Each team will consist of 2 players. If you don’t have a partner, we can pair you up with one. This is a single elimination event. Games will be limited to 6 rounds. Each game will take between 3 to 5 hours to complete. Side games/ consolation games are optional. Multiple versions of Axis & Allies will be available including, 1914, Global, Zombies & 1942.

Lodging: If you are interested in staying overnight there are several options. There is a nice campground at Apple Valley Lake. Event organizer (Vince) is a property owner so contact him if you would like to make arrangements to stay in a tent or camper & he’ll arrange for a guest pass. Apple Valley Lake also has cabins for rent & several AirB&B rentals. Nearest hotels are in Mt. Vernon which is 10 min. away.

Fees: This event is free for all participants. Prizes will be awarded to champions & runners up. A guest pass for tent camping will be less than $20/ night.

It’s a whole day of A&A slaughter and mayhem in Derbyshire, UK. Thus far these events have included games of 1942.2, Anniversary and 1914, as players wish on the day.

Currently we have six players, so there will be two games, with space for more to participate.

The Battle of Britain 1942.2 event is quarterly. All A&A players are welcome. We can currently accommodate three more.

The Winter 2015/16 event is on 7 February. Then the Spring 2016 one on 8 May.

I have 2 metal boards but I plan to just run the one game at a time. Probably 1 game per day but with global I might have to extend the time for two days. Global games can be very unpredictable on how long they run.

That sounds rather like me in my 42.2 forum game against witt!
