Guys. Yesterday we played some new boardgame: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/169786/scythe
I can recommend. The pretext is very neat: some alternate Post-WW1 reality, where the world was devastated due to the advanced military technology (Steampunk-like Battle-Walkers etc.).
Now its mainly farming and some mining what nations do. Borders have no real meaning anymore. Its more of a survive, and trying to live with your enemies as direct neighbors. So War plays not so much a role, you can have skirmishes with your neighbors, but its costly and best you can hope for is to scuttle them off and steal their resources.
Is very economic / planning focused. And has beautiful artwork and miniatures.
Very nice!

Looks good, and highly rated on BGG which is always a good sign.
Currently in my ‘to purchase’ list are:
- Through the Ages: A new story of Civilisation
- Twilight Struggle
- A&A 1914
- Twilight Imperium
Money is a problem though when trying to overpay a mortgage, save up for an extension, and raise two kids! Still you make your choices.
My existing collection includes:
- Settlers of Catan (plus all expansions)
- Carcassone
- Dead of Winter
- Cosmic Encounter (plus all expansions)
- 7 Wonders (plus all expansions)
- Eldritch Horror (plus all expansions)
- Ghost Stories
- Formula D
- Werewolf
- Resistance Avalon
- Android Net Runner
- Race for the Galaxy
- Dominon
- Game of Thrones the Boardgame
- Pandemic
- Ticket to Ride
- Heroquest
- Battlemasters
- and of course A&A (1940 Global 2nd Edition, 1942 2nd Edition, 1942 1st Edition, 1941, Revised, and homemade Anniversary).
And:
- A massive Epic Space Marine (2nd Edition) collection, which I am slowly lovingly painting (lifetime project - Blood Angels Space Marine army almost done).

- Through the Ages: A new story of Civilisation
I can HIGHLY recommend.
I playing it all the time online here: http://www.boardgaming-online.com/index.php?cnt=2, because its too time consuming to play regularly as a board game.
If you like you can create an account there (is simple) and we can have a game there.
- Through the Ages: A new story of Civilisation
-
I would love to but I think I might not have the time at the moment.
Maybe when the kids are a bit older.
Also part of me likes to play a boardgame in the traditional way when I first play it. I don’t think I’d have got into A&A if my first experience of it had been Triple A for example.
Cred
-
Thats a valid point.
One remark I have nevertheless: TtA plays totally easier online that does TripleA. I even do some moves on my smartphone when I am on the train or sth.
I hope you get some guys to play with you. If you get into it and past the (initially) complex rules, you will see the beauty of the game design and how awesomely it all fits together. Nothing else I can say. Its the best game ever. :-)
-
Apart from Twilight Struggle, Pandemic Legacy and maybe a couple of others if I remember BGG top performers list.
:-D
But in seriousness, given my love for Civilisation the computergame I’m sure I could get well into it.
