The Ashes - Stuart Broad 8 for 15!!!!
-
If there are any Aussies on these boards they might like to use this thread to congratulate Stuart Broad on his wicket haul!?
Wow! What an opening day to the fourth test! :-o
And what an exciting Ashes series so far.
(For those to whom this is a foreign language - what are the NHL Playoffs anyway?! :? And who cares!?)
-
Go England!
-
Ha ha ha!
So cricket has less of a following on these boards than NHL? What a surprise! :-D
-
And just to register for myself and witt that England have now won the Ashes.
What are the chances of retaining them next time in Australia?
PS I had US friends to stay who skipped through the TV channels and found a game of cricket. “Hey - let’s watch that!” they cried. “How long does a game last?” When I told them 5 days they lost interest immediately!

The NHL Playoffs -12 pages
The Ashes -1 page -
Heh heh! :-D
If that’s a challenge I can keep posting until I get to 13 pages!
I think you are Canadian YG? In which case how come you lot have lost cricket?

They realised quite early that it was boring, PP. I only followed it as a child, as there was nothing else on over the Summer Hols. I even watched Wimbledon! Thank God I discovered A&A at university.
My best friend also plays. Have watched him a few times. -
Boring! Wash your mouth out wittman!
Each 5 day test can swing backwards and forwards over the course of the game, generating a crescendo of “edge of your seat” excitement. Each 5 test series can build on that uncertainty to a climax of exhilaration.
Unfortunately not all games and series are like that. You know when it’s not happening when the commentators start discussing the pigeons landing in the outfield, or the camera switches to an elderly gent asleep in his seat ….
But it can be. This Ashes series has been something of a roller-coaster. Sometimes anticipation can enhance gratification more than immediacy does. And you can’t get much more anticipation than a 5 day game.
Anyone convinced? :-)

What did you say? I am afraid I fell asleep before the end.
