ok - you have two “zero percent” battles to go. course i’ve seen wheatbeer win a zero percent battle so it’s by no means over yet.
had you kept the russian airforce in kweichow you could have forked the two victory cities, giving me much more of a headache. i recall my frantic calcs telling me you could have something like a 10-20% shot at each VC. combine that with your ~20% shot at hawaii and you can see how i put you at roughly a coin flip back then.
Yeah but Kweichow was in danger of air strikes from Japan and Germany.
Anyway good game, you expertly made use of my mistakes to steal the game away, kudos. A loss here should be better for me long term I think, I was pretty ambivalent in the end.
the airstrikes could have been shielded from german by the chinese placement. and an airstrike from japan would have accomplished keeping the airstriking planes from defending either VC.
it was a very exciting game, one that had me seriously worried at the end. i thought my slide by through southern russia would be more of a sneaky and easy path to victory than it was.
luckily your attack of india failed though because i probably would have wanted the italian planes there as well which we skipped over.
anyway, great game, very well played and i know that this game will make you much more ready for the playoffs where there are some very tricky players lurking.
by the way, i must admit, when i saw the hawaii roll come through i thought you had come back to win the 1% z26 battle and were rolling for the win in hawaii at 47.8% or whatever it was. once i regained consciousness, i realized it was just the fighter, which nailed me! :-o
