@hopper1999 I’ve access to both resin and PLA printers, and while resin has a couple of extra steps compared to PLA, I wouldn’t consider it painful. I’ve come to appreciate resin’s ability to show detail even in very small scale. For me its worth the extra steps to clean and cure, for those results. What’s great is there are so many free units available, with some simple editing/converting you can quickly build cool armies.
As for casting, while I haven’t casted any A&A parts yet (still building my unit library), I have casted a lot of 3.75 action figure parts. I’ve gotten best results using a syringe and pressure pot. (I converted a old paint pressure tank). You inject your mold, and then put it under pressure, I’d do around 30psi, to help the resin into the thinner parts of the mold and prevent bubbles. It also helps, when making your mold to put it under pressure as well. I’ve found it helps prevents bubbles in the silicone and between the silicone and the part being cast.
I plan on using casting to duplicate units I already have, that I can’t find stl files for.

With all the new sculpts available from HBG nowadays i chose a few to update the us and british airforces.
I just love corsairs :)
-
I gave the british fleet air arm some corsairs and i also included a special, some of you guys might recognize the paint scheme
I couldn’t leave out the flying tiger and giving the raf some warhawks
-
Not all historically accurate, but i love planes and i have to add some fun and unusual schemes in to the mix, artistic license……:)
-
Man, so many planes, LOL. Nice job, man, nice job! :-D
-
Uffff, those look so nice. Very stellar work.
May I ask what brush/tool you use to do the detail work on your aircraft? (a photo would be appreciated too :) I am always looking for ways to improve my process. Your aircraft are some of my favorite I’ve ever seen.

Thank you Spitfire38, you have quite a few awesome pieces yourself. I am not using anything fancy, just the normal model brushes from 3 down to size 5/0
I do find that when it comes down to the really fine stuff i have to sometimes trim hairs off the brush, yes, i do go through a few.
Of course a steady hand is a real advantage and patience too, both are things i struggle with. -

Yep, patience and a steady hand are very important! Unfortunately they can’t be purchased at your local crafts store.

Awesome detail on those aircraft! The steady hand thing is a must and eagle eye sight doesn’t hurt. I have to take breaks if I’ve been painting to long and refuel with some food to stop the shakes! Keep up the great work!

Thanks majikforce

Agree with taking breaks, i can’t sit for more than a couple hours.

Over a year ago i had made a start on the russian supplement set and due to circumstances had to drop everything and deal with real life. During my absence here i ordered the japanese supplement set and after looking at hbg the other day i noticed there was an expansion set as well. I have just recently received the uk supplement set, so i really have a lot of catching up to do. Not to mention i still have fmg’s italians as well. I will never run out of pieces to paint, just finding the time…. :-D

Due to my location, the australian bush, my man cave is not really all that secure, i have been expecting it but was still shocked , sitting down painting away and out of the corner of my eye i see something squirming along at my feet, a quick look confirms my fears,it’s a bloody snake. So, the mancave has been abandoned for now will pluck up the courage to go back in a few days and make a whole lot of noise. A few pics of my current progress.

-
Wow, you have been busy, and I guess the snake has too! I hope you get in there soon enough. Can’t wait too see your final product.
Cheers! :-)

Great stuff DM keep up the good work
-
Haha the man cave has been taken over by enemy forces! Uh oh.
Are you painting the wooden decks straight onto the primer, or is that a base coat of light gray that’s on top of the primer, and then the wooden decks?
-
Yes, the mancave is enemy occupied :-o
Yes, painting the wooden deck over the base gray, going to try something a little different this time and see what i come up with, but it may be a while till i seek out the enemy force  -
So i ventured in to the mancave today, made some noise and moved stuff around, still not game to sit down for long, set up the 1942 2nd edition to see what it looks like, first time i opened the box :-D Gee its small….
There are lots of threads here about specialized war rooms, well i dont have that, it is supposed to be a games room/ mancave when not ocuppied by an enemy force. Did i mention that i hate snakes…
A few pics of my room
