John Brown's Painted Axis and Allies Pieces

GROUP ONE: GREY CAMO SCHEME:
PART ONE: REGULAR INFANTRY

There will be six parts to the infantry on the grey camo scheme. I’ve only painted the regular infantry. The greatcoat infantry will be the next painted pieces.

Everyone is right about one thing, infantry takes the longest to paint. 9 different paints were used on these pieces.

I painted 10 infantry. Eight were regular troops, and the two with the swastika armbands are SS Units.

You are probably wondering, why just ten?

Well I will be doing, 6 camo schemes.

This will take me awhile, because, before it is said and done, there will be 210 German infantry to paint. 6 different sculpts are involved.

I will be doing other, countries pieces, in between, some of these schemes, so that I don’t burnout, on one country.

These are great!  Can’t wait to see more.  My best bud and I are painting a few sets together along with some HBG add ons and customized carriers he’s put together, and I’m looking forward to posting pics of those to see what you all think.

Guys, I haven’t dropped off the map.

My wife is wanting to spend money on renovating our kitchen and both restrooms.

I paint on our dining table, and every time she has a contractor or guests, I have to put everything up.

Very frustrating, because she doesn’t won’t people to see my toys.

I’m going to try and think of something, but until then, this is what I got to do.

I told you the greatcoat infantry was next, but wasn’t happy with it, so I’m starting over, but I did paint 10 light infantry in the grey camo scheme.

Let me tell you, it was the hardest piece to date, that I have painted, but when you see them, I think you will like them.

I still have to decal them, but when I finish, I will post pictures.

This last picture is a picture with the regular infantry SS units, the light infantry SS units, and the Greatcoat SS units.

The reason I’m showing you the other SS units from the previous two sets of infantry, is because, I just got armband SS decals, from combatminiatures.org, for the SS unit’s, other arm.

If you look closely, for now on my SS units will have, swastika armbands on the left arm and SS armbands on the right arm.

Those are looking good.  Great Job.  Painting Infantry I find is the toughest and most tidiest, because of the size and detail.  I try to avoid it as much as possible.  For Infantry i keep to the specialty units, like SS, Commandos, Paratroopers etc.  Keep it to a minimum.

Yes, I thought I would advertise for you. When I get the Afrika Corp, flags, I’ll do the same, on those pieces, as well.

Very nice!  I really like what you’ve done with the bases.  Almost makes territory markers unnecessary, which saves space on a crowded game board.

Thanks, Spitfire has taught me this, while painting my set. I’m adopting this on all my infantry pieces, that I paint. :-D
