Fortuna clearly did not favor the Italians.
I would have taken a hit on 1 carrier and 1 sub the first round (instead of 2 subs), because I would have had to worry about the possibility of a follow-up attack by Germans (2 DDs and 2 fighters). The somewhat surprising French victory in Algeria takes the 2 German fighters out of the equation, though, and attack now by 2 German DDs would be a waste of precious resources.
