@ArtofWar1947 That works for me. Scramble 99?
2015 League General Discussion Thread

You bet - I really wish we’d hear more from players like you’re sharing with us now
I don’t think the Russians need to bolster China, except maybe with 12-18 of the starting Siberians.
I don’t think Egypt is half as important as most players think. I concede Egypt whether I’m Axis or Allies, pretty much every single game. My opponent always wants it worse than I do.I think 20 bid being big is old thinking. TUV is 1600-2000. Larry cut back how many aircraft from Japan from 1st edition? The rules changes that have taken place since first edition have had the effect of a 100+ bid toward the Axis, at LEAST. Most players I think love scattering units around the board - the 1 unit restriction allows for a lot more creativity and varied setups than if players were always dumping 3-4 infantry on Yunnan or something.
The bidding guidelines in the league rules are only that - guidelines. If you don’t like the restriction, I’m sure you will be able to convince most opponents to disregard that guideline and you can stack units with smaller bids.
-
I think 20 bid being big is old thinking.
20 bid was HUGE in original A&A, and quite big in Revised or AA50. Now it’s not.
-
I still contend that starting the game with France would almost balance out the entire imbalance….
Germany should at least have one other thing to worry about then a simple crush of Paris (no 98% battles needed, do the 100% one). Starting the game with a French turn (even as a “non-aggression” turn, meaning they can’t attack turn one – as many rules as this game has, that little addition wouldn’t be hard to remember) would solve lots of problems. Otherwise, sometimes I contemplate if 30 is enough of a bid with one unit per territory, but 12 may be overpowered if 4 inf can go in the same place.
-
Great points, Dizz! That would be a 19 bid - so 6 more units to France. That’s probably too much, but I love the discussion
-
That also allows France to get all her units in motion a turn earlier, which is really a pretty big advantage…… But I guess then you could have a small Axis bid
-
Maybe players could just agree to add 2-3 infantry to Paris at game start, and bid from there
-
If France went first (which would be COOL), I would move my French cruiser from z110 to z112, and move my fighter from Paris to z110 and land it on my new French carrier
-
Has anyone ever played a game of Global in the League using Revised National Powers for Germany, USSR, Britain, Japan, and USA? Could be fun!
-
I put a lot of work into an improved G40 that does pretty much that and much more, but got a little stalled out because too many games. One day I could finish it (it’s good enough to play right now though, and someone even set it up in Triple A) and it could be a very fun alternative.
Here is my spreadsheet. There are multiple sheets. Attached is the file, I think, for the startup map.
-
I just tried opening it, and it looks just like the normal game…… I’m doing something wrong, or it doesn’t work with the new version, I don’t know, but check out the rules. Whenever I get done winning league championships :-P I can finish it off. I think it will be a great game.

You know, I just checked my box, and 2nd edition comes with 2 French carriers, a couple of French Strat bombers, and lots of French tac bombers. For the next FTF game that I play, I think starting with France would be cool – and feasible with all of the pieces. :)
Gamer, has anyone been play testing your new G40 edition? Just curious how all of the new rules affect the balance and bidding so far.
-
It’s only been played once, and I think it went pretty well.
It would be great if a few players would be interested in trying it out again. The balance is actually reasonable, I think - no doubt it’s off, but I don’t think it’s terrible. For those seeking a change of pace, my version would be a great option, if I do say so myself
-
There’s something in Triple A - engine preferences -> run the map creator
Has tutorials and everything - surely there’s someone who would enjoy tinkering with that and setting up my version of G40….

Not sure if a massive multiplayer league game has been attempted before.
But here goes.I’m looking to get a massive game going with these slots open:
Axis:
Germany- untaken
Japan- untaken
Italy- untakenAllies:
America - untaken
UK Atlantic Forces(Britain) - Untaken
UK Pacific Forces(India) - Untaken
Australia - Untaken
Russia - Untaken
France- Played by someone, most likely Britain.Who is interested? I’m not sure who would play what, but perhaps this game could not count towards peoples league average? Or if it did, I’m not sure how it would work. I’ve neved played a massive player A&A game before. I’m sure it would be fun.

Why are you splitting the British players up?

Doesn’t have to split up. But I thought it would be near to have two generals for UK.

The league is for individual 1v1 play
Feel free to play any kind of game you want, including teams, in the play boardgames section -
i recommend keeping v1.8.0.5 of triplea around and using it for a turn that you know you’re going to do a significant naval battle that you think there’s a chance you’d retreat. that’s what i am going to do, at least until this is patched up.
OK, it’s happened to me now.
I attacked a battleship/transport with destroyer/cruiser and after I whiffed in the first round and got hit back (I’m getting used to this…. :p) I probably would have retreated, but it never gave me a chance. My cruiser hit then, so I’m just like, screw it. But I will be prepared for this possibility in the future…Everyone, be warned! New version of Triple A might take away your chance to retreat in a naval battle!

Interesting…. the rankings have auto-balanced now and doesn’t look top-heavy
There are more in tier 4 than tier E. 1 is about the same as 3.
