Where to build Japanese factory: Poll Question

I know people hate them but I like having a couple cruisers in my fleet accompanied by a good screen of subs and DDs to protect carriers. I’d rather spend 4 more IPCs and have two slightly less powerful rolls of the dice in a battle while still having the ability to soak the two hits a BB would get with one unit.

Agreed. That NO could even replace the Strategic outer defensive perimeter(Guam, Midway etc.).
Conquering China is difficult and much effort is required; this would be the reward.

Yeah, and it is at least possible too. That 5 island NO is next to impossible. I have had games where Japan won on the Pacific board and still didn’t get that NO. The only time I have gotten it was when the Allies spent most of their resources in Europe and Japan was allowed to go hog wild.

If you capture a naval base on your turn, and you have ships adjacent to it that haven’t moved.�  During NCM do they recieve the boost?

nope, to able to get move bonus, u have to control it at the start of your turn.

The rules does not say anything about that… In my team the ships get a boost. What does Larry say about this

Alpha 3 is an evolution of what originally started as a setup change to address imbalances in the Pac1940 game.

The original setup change addressed Pac 40 only, and was called Alpha, and was meant to be used in Pac alone as well as Global.  Imbalances noted in Global began to influence the alpha revisions, going from Alpha, Alpha +, Alpha + 2, etc.  As these changes were made to address global, there was still a desire to use these modifications for the theater specific games, but this was not a playtesting priority (most people has transitioned to Global only as their primary game - alpha began before Europe 1940 was released).  As the theater games became less of a playtesting priority, the national objectives were revised, and this is probably the primary driver of theater imbalances at this point (particularly US objectives in the pacific theater & Russian objectives in Europe theater).

I would recommend using the Alpha 3 setup and rule changes.  I would recommend using OOB national objectives until official objectives that apply to the theater games are released.  Alternatively, use national objectives from Alpha 3 for all countries but US (use OOB for those) in theater specific games.

The one hanging option that’s been noted many times for the Europe theater is that the Siberian reinforcements should be abandoned and instead Russia ALWAYS collects 9 additional IPCs each turn that represent the eastern provinces not shown in the Europe theater.

So I’m playing A&A global for the 2nd time and I am noticing a lot of inconsistencies with the rules between both books and even what is written on the board’s mobilization chart. Is there an updated/ revised rulebook I can download?

Use the Europe Rulebook.  The only rules from the Pacific Rulebook that apply to the Global game are the rules on China and kamikazes.  I’m not aware of any problems with the mobilization charts on the boards.  What are you referring to?

Also, how much does USA collect before it goes into wartime? Europe book says it makes 35 during war so does that mean it makes 5 IPCs and then gets +30? is it +30 for Europe and +40 for global?

In the Europe game, the US collects 35 IPCs when not at war.  In the Global game, the US collects 52 IPCs when not at war (see page 32 of the Europe Rulebook).  Note that the politics rules and National Objectives in the Global game are completely different from those in the Europe game (see pages 33-35 of the Europe Rulebook).

Well either way. uk can only make 9-10 inf r1.  germany round 2 buys more transports and dumps what he has on to a spot near uk. G3 is boom boom if you got the forces or wait a round just shuffle a bunch of guys over and G4 it is done.

I think he posted his quote on the wrong thread.  It looks like his quote is supposed to be on some thread about Sealion.  Maybe he was thinking of making his post, saw this topic and decided to check it out, then said “Oh, I’ve got to leave my post” but forgot to go back to the original Sealion thread and left it here instead.  Probably a blonde moment, ha ha ha.
