DK's Hybrid Axis and Allies Map and Rules

The Field artillery represents short ranged artillery that armies tried to use at the beginning of the war because they thought the war would be fought in fields at relatively short range like the Napoleonic wars. The Germans hid these behind the lines at the end of the war so when the tanks would break through they had a way of stopping them before they got through to there long ranged artillery.

I’ve finished my video series on house rules and I’m ready to move on to something else. The last one that I uploaded is turn 2 through the rest of the game playing all 10 of my house rules. It gives you a good idea of how they work in a game situation in case you would like to try them or maybe they will give you some ideas of your own on how to improve upon my ideas to fit your vision of what G-40 should be. The biggest draw is NO WAITING!

The reason the UK is so heavily damaged is to incetivize Germany to keep the Blitz going.
Knock the UK up to 20 damage and watch them flounder for the next few turns. It really takes the pressure off the French coast so Germany can focus on Egypt and Russia.
Sea Lion is a bad idea. But bombing England so bad that the UK is better served building in South Africa (to try and keep Italy and Germany off the continent) affords Germany the important 3 or 4 turns of breathing room to get deep into Russia.

Russia faces some tough choices. It can back up constantly and build up a massive stack in Moscow, but Germany will get all the cash in the south and starve you to death. Its really cat & mouse on that front.

There are some glitches in the setup, being that an all transport build for the US and an attack on Europe can throw Germany out of balance (or so some have said)
Likewise, Japan can ignore everything else on its plate and go head long for India and take it.

To cure this I have been considering adding an Airbase to Holland/Belgium (so German fighters/Tacs can strike allied boats in SZ91)
And to reinforce India add another ANZAC infantry and an ANZAC AA gun

First play test is complete.  Zombies took over half of Asia after starting in the Philippines but then were wiped out shortly after Germany fell and Japan surrendered.  There are a bunch of tweaks and fixes needed to the rules.  The Zs seem formidable at first, but once you get some large stacks attacking them they are easily subdued.  I’ll post here when I have them.

I used the OPs NAs for the first time last night. We rolled 2 d6 to see which NAs each country would get. I was Germany and got the V2 Rockets. Instead of having the UK surrender the IPCs to the bank, we did like a SBR and placed damage markers under the IC. Together with a 1 bomber SBR, the UK IC had a stack of 12 damage markers under it which the UK decided that all damage markers needed to be removed. We really enjoyed playing with these and will be adding them in again two at a time until we are familiar with all of them and then have all of the NAs for each country in play. Nice job and thanks for posting the NAs. These kinds of things make AA42 an even better game.

that sounds like 2nd or 3rd edition rules (i.e. “original” axis and allies), not 1st edition. are you sure? i’m taking about the very 1st edition… an edition basically no one plays anymore.

The 1st ed was w/ unlimited IC’s.  Even ones you purchased.

Very unbalanced b/c GBR would get an IC for Persia, and move all of the India units to Sinkiang to allow US to buy the IC on the first round.  Round 2 and beyond sees $ 60+/turn worth of allied armor pouring onto the Eurasia landmass to take everything over.
