Italy Strategy

Yeah well a bunch of Italian ground troops on N Italy can retake S Italy right away. Of course losing Rome even if it’s retaken straight away is still a significant setback for the Axis.

This plan doesn’t ignore Japan, that’s a compete foolish move in my opinion. I just build bombers enough to keep Germany annoyed while maintaining a Pacific Fleet. As I said before, I build a 1:1 build against Japan and make sure Hawaii doesn’t get captured.

In the games a played it seemed that Japan could help the European Axis more by getting in positon to have enough victory cities on their side of the map than really pushing towards Russia.  If Japan pushes to Russia then USA is free to keep spending in Europe.  Maybe I will give this a try though with the newer edition of rules.

JimmyHat - a friend and I changed everything in Revised to d20 for a bunch of games quite some years ago… it actually worked quite well, because everything could be adjusted by increments of 5%. It was fun, and felt more realistic. I wouldn’t recommend it for a game with as many variables as Global, though.

I’ll resubmit this idea - the best place for Italian economy is in Russia. Take small Russian blocker armies, move large German forces in to reinforce. In this way, Italy does the heavy lifting and losing of casualties while building a nice economic base; Germany gets to keep precious infantry alive, and has immediate places to land aircraft to make newly taken Italian holdings not able to be counterattacked.

And to answer your question, a lot of people don’t do SeaLion b/cuz it’s not always a guaranteed thing. Depends on what the UK does. If the UK makes it as difficult as possible, then most likely the Germans can take it still but it might be a little dicey and leave them vulnerable to the Russians. If the UK makes it easier then the Germans will be more likely to do a SeaLion. I don’t think a successful SeaLion always means an Axis victory.
