All scramble in sea zone 97.
Champinoman (Allies) vs Thurhame (Axis) 1940.2 Global
-
In SZ54, I took the hit on your fighter instead of damaging the carrier as that would have resulted in you losing both fighters at the end of battle. Didn’t really matter in the end because you managed 2 hits in round 1.
-
I’d lose the tac first, not the fighter. Tac alone is 3|3; fighter alone is 3|4. Only reason to take the fighter as a loss would be its cheaper to replace, but since I can’t make purchases…

Changed that for you. I was just looking at IPC value.

I believe that makes 8 victory cities in Europe; so your only hope is for that Russian infantry force to somehow survive Germany’s turn and then take Leningrad.
-
I very much doubt they’ll survive that attack even if it was only tanks coming to the party.
I thought I would hold Egypt with what was in it. But upon review the numbers were always in your favour.
18 subs? Wow :P
I think I lost the chance to win when you attacked my US fleet and I couldn’t get my fighters scrambled from the UK. If I had kept those transports alive I would have made it onto the mainland and it would have been a different story I feel. Well played there.
I really shouldn’t have lost that after getting Japan. The US should have been too powerful in the Atlantic. Maybe I should have been pushing through the med? Who knows.
-
With the Pacific under my control, taking Japan really only gave you a one-shot PU boost. The game would have needed to go on much longer for Japan’s lack of income to make much difference.
Still, I think I agree. If your combined fleet has sacrificed a bit of transport power for the extra muscle to replace UK’s planes, it would have been a different game. I’d probably have made the same attack, but with a much lower chance of success. Then you could have come through the med with reinforcements from the US mainland; I think I could have slowed you down but not stopped you at that point.
I guess it just goes to show that there’s no general who never overlooks anything. Your planes, my kamikazes; on such mistakes hinge the balance of war. Just like chess, there’s always an opportunity somewhere, if you can find it.
-
As far as Egypt, if the Japanese attack hadn’t done the job I had 5 Italian planes and a German force of 3 tanks, 3 artillery, 2 infantry, and 2 bombers ready to finish the job.
