OK, as discussed, we will play this game by the rulebook, official FAQ, and errata - for consistency.

This means the loophole is not closed - You can move ships away from a hostile zone to avoid combat in the combat movement phase, but you cannot move ships away from a non-hostile zone (subs/transports) during the combat movement phase unless those ships are going to participate in combat or anticipate a scramble elsewhere.  Again, playing by the rulebook, official FAQ and errata as written, not as “intended”.

An apology may be appropriate.  We discussed it on facebook 5/31 and you asked that I post it to the thread.  This here is the very clear post to the thread.  I even explained it.

Not useless, or I wouldn’t have hit them.  I know I had second thoughts about it, but it’s the right thing to do.  I’m glad it wasn’t too costly for you since it was an oversight

Worth the valuable reminder of that attack route, for the future
I know I learned that one from another player very early on, when the map first came out
