1942.2 did not come with the Weapons Development because they had that in Global and Anniversary and they wanted 1942 (both editions) to be a simpler game. However, I’m sure you can easily bring the weapons development into that game. You would just need your own chart to keep track of them.

It will be easy enough.  I printed out the development chart and glued it to a cardboard backer.  Same with the 1940 battle chart.

Also, if you get a chance to get a copy of the rulebook from Revised, they have a neat optional rule called National Advantages. These are unique to each country and might give them a slight edge in certain situations. Each nation (just the big 5) gets 6 different advantages to choose from and you can use none, any or all of them. Some advantages are a one time use while others continue throughout the game. It’s a pretty neat thing to add a little flavor to your game.

I glanced at that and may have to take a closer look at it.

I thought super subs only increased the attack power.
The tank armor is waaaaaay overpowered.  So if you had 10 tanks, it would take 11 hits to kill 1?  That’s crazy, man, you need to modify that.
Battleships (sounds like you’re talking AAR) cost 24.  Tanks cost 5.
That one’s a bigger game-breaker than 3 dice heavy bombers!

Back in 1993 we had a rule for Nuclear Weapons.

First you had to discover it, but could not do so until after round 10 (classic, remember.)
Second, it had to be loaded on a heavy bomber
Third, it removed 50% of the units on a territory if the bomber lived through any AA Guns.

Purpose:  Back then there was a problem of 400 infantry on Japan and it was just a pain to take it.  This way we could eliminate all 400 of them with 2 nuclear weapons and assault the next round iwth infantry.

I’m thinking about a system where all rolls are free, and based on your country’s income.  This is because, obviously, the choice wasn’t “develop technology or put those scientists in shermans and liberate europe”.

Not bad, but I think that infantry includes all that (officers, snipers etc…) when they roll their regular die.

Thanks for responding-I have used them in AAE as well. We played that you didn’t have to pay the $5. You rolled and if you got a six then there you go. Germany ended up with supper subs… Unfotunately, the Atlantic became a German Pond!
