Germany - Continued to dominate Mediterranean, Pushing a stack of 12Inf, 2Art, Tank and Fighter to within 1 zone on Stalingrad.
Leningrad was held and used a launching point into Russia. Carrier assisted German navy continued to transport 6men/turn up to the icebound Leningrad. Bombing of Russia continued right up until the end, often bombing the undefended give/take factory of Volgagrad (Stalingrad). Even though Vichy, E. France and Paris were in allied hands and Russia was playing a back and forth game with territories, Germany was still collecting 50$/Turn. Things were looking bleak though, with allied armies contiuing to mass in Normandy and Italy under danger of a sneak attack from US forces. Time was running out! Stacking units 30+ deep in Berlin and 15+ in Italy, most of Eastern Europe was empty and vulnerable to Russian and MidEast British Armies.

Russia - Backing into Moscow and letting Germany stay in Leningrad was a gamble, but it paid off. The attacker had an impossible time leaving the city, because when he did I would be able to produce 8 guys there, and have all my allies land their fighters there. He had to keep the front line in my backyard. I prevented him from moving to the central zone by keeping it so he couldn’t land his Luftwaffe there. Without the fighter protection, I had enough firepower to knock him out !! Time was my ally.

United Kingdom - Germany seemed content to keep it’s navy docked outside Leningrad so I was able to use a US T1 Carrier and my fighters to set up shipping lanes into the Bay of Biscay. Landing first in Paris, Vichy and E. France I was able to get about 6$, and by T8 was poised to fight for E. Europe with my Mid-East Forces. I only landed 1 fighter in Russia and that was on T1, other than that Russia received no air support because there was nowhere to land. Scandinavia, Vyborg, Leningrad, Poland and the Baltic States were all under Axis control and most had some 88 Flack Guns. I finally flew 3 fighter from Vichy, over Flack in Italy, and on to Rumania.

United States - The U.S. footed every dollar of the Mid-East oil bill for the entire game. The T1 Carrier and a extra destroyer was enough to (With UK Navy help) stave off any attacks by the German Navy. Landings in France and Vichy meshed well with landings and movements of British Troops. Several mass Fighter purchases helped ensure British Troops in Europe were protected after moving. US and UK bombed the Schnitzel out of Germany, turn after turn until T7 when, heh heh, in one turn German Flack Towers shot down ALL allied bombers. Decimating Morale and giving the German economy a boost. At one point 1 US Inf. and Art. owed all of German North Africa. Germany was stalled.

END GAME -

Germany was well defended but not in a position (Now or in the Future) to advance any further. Allied income was almost 2:1 and Russia was twice as strong as the force in Leningrad. The German Navy was next on the chopping block, cutting off all help to Leningrad (which can only produce 1 German unit per turn). US/UK were putting 70$ / turn into France and nothing was going to stop it. Germany Surrenders T9

I found a strategy for Germany that actually got me to win. :-o

The main idea of this strategy is to destroy Russia.  Once they are gone, it’s pretty much over for everyone else.  Our rules for this game were: No convoys, take the convoy points off of countries points (except for Uk, only lower 5), only able to build on ICs, and battleships can only attack on amphibius assults.

Turn 1: Start off by building 8 tanks.  For your attacks: take out russia’s fleet, the strait of gibraltor, Uk’s transports that aren’t protected by a battleship, and americas fleet.  And that’s just sea!  Next Use your forces on the eastern front to destroy all of the purple countries (inbetween red and tan).  Non combat a lot of forces to the eastern fronts.  You should be right on Lenningrads doorstep now.  Also noncombat 2 units over to africa for some extra help.  Place your tanks on Germany to move towards Russia.

Hopefully you’ve taking out Americas navy, now it should slow them down and buy you some time.

Turn 2: Buy as many tanks as you can.  Try and take out Lenningrad’s forces and take it for one turn at least.  If belorussia or any other countires are weak attack them and get the money.  Keep some subs on Americas and Russia’s sea so they can’t build and start moving the other subs to great britain to attack that battleship.  Use your battleship/destroy in the strait of gibraltor to head back towards great britains other ships near africa.  Place your tanks in Lenningrad if you’ve taken it to get a foot hold.

If great britain tries to launch an amphibous assult use planes to take them out!  Make sure they don’t land.

Turn 3: Buy more tanks (if you can’t see the pattern yet).  You might have lost Lenningrad but that’s ok, because that means that he is spreading his forces.  Use your units in finland if they’re still there to move north of lenningrad, it should hopefully be mostly unaccupied becuase of Lenningrad.  Use your southern european forces to move along the black sea to stalingrad.  you won’t be able to reach it this turn but now russia has to worry about two fronts.  keep moving forces towards the eastern and western front (mostly eastern).  Place your forces in Lenningrad or germany if you’ve lost it.

Keep this plan up of alternating attacks on lenningrad and stalingrad so they spread out.  If your forces above lenningrad haven’t been lost, which hopefully they haven’t because they’ve been worrying about their ICs, move into the IC above moscow.  Once russia is gone, the game is basically yours.  Start moving your some forces into the middle east to finish it off and the rest back towards germany and norway.  After you’ve secured your IC’s start building subs, they can strike twice a turn.

Try this idea, it worked for me because america lost turns trying to gain their sea back.

I Completly agree. I never play wiht bids, so the extra money would be nice, but yes build the kriegsmarine and go to sea. I do not know why but I almost always have a kill GB first mindset, Build A wall and ships, then send out the surface fleet. Now that this beatiful map by positronica has been created, I think the Axis Have a Pretty good chance at winning alot more games. Bids in my opinion are not needed for this one. It is no longer 2vs3 it is now 3vs3. Britain and america have a nice 1 two punch together for a long whileand in a few different games.  It is a nice site to see a Germany- Italy combo also.

I agree with Inkdux on Germany needing to wipe out most of the Allied navy. This forces Britain, with national production of 25, to focus on building expensive navy units. This also will put the US in a position where they must also beef up their navy to clear out what remains of the German navy. This takes the focus of the western allies off of amphibious assaults and more on building destroyers ($12 each) to destroy the German subs and to defend transports. This allows Germany to weaken its forces in France and put them against Russia on the other front. Germany will eventually have to contend with an amphibious assault on France but will have ample time to shift units into place for defense. Leaving the Allied navy alone and only going after convoys is a doomed strategy. Britain and the US will be able to knock your subs out of most of these convoys before they receive their money at the end of their respective rounds, which means the affect on their IPCs is minimal to nothing and you just got most if not all of your subs sunk. Once this is done, expect amphibious landings from the US and Britain to follow immediately, which takes Germany from being on offense to being on defense and is normally the beginning of the end.

As far as the eastern front is concerned, purchase a transport and put it in the Danish Sea and artillery to be placed either in Germany or Poland with the $12 you start with. Attack Leningrad with 2 infantry + 2 artillery transported over from Germany + 1 fighter. Attack Baltic States (only 3 russian infantry), East Poland (only 4 russian infantry) & Bessarabia (only 1 infantry + 1 armor defending) as well. Reinforce Rumania on your non-combat phase to prevent units from Ukraine from taking it in a counter-attack. If Leningrad is stacked with infantry, send the 2 infantry + 2 artillery with the transports to attack Baltic States. The extra transport gives you more flexibility in attacking on the opening round and can also help you beyond the 1st round as long as they stay alive. Britain has to choose on its turn whether to use its 2 fighters and bomber to attack your 2 transports or assist its remaining destroyers in Davis Strait and/or Strait of Gibraltar in attacking your subs (this is assuming you have concentrated all of your sub efforts in the first round to destroying the British fleet in the North Sea, English Channel & Celtic Sea). More often than not, they will choose to go after your subs to stop you from attacking their convoys as well as future naval units that they purchase. Your 1st objective should remain taking out Leningrad. If you don’t, this will allow the Russians to continually stack infantry there for use as cannonfodder in counterattacks or just to reinforce other provinces in the area, which will slow down your offensive tremendously. Even if you take Leningrad and they take it back in the next round, they still can’t build units there and you will most likely be able to take it back on your next turn. With Leningrad gone, Russia is forced to produce infantry in Moscow or Stalingrad. The combination of the US & UK being delayed due to their navies being destroyed coupled with Germany being able to transfer infantry and artillery to the front very quickly with the transports will put you in an excellent position to take Russia out.

As for the Middle East, in the first round take 1 artillery + 1 infantry on the transport and amphibious assault libya and move your battleship and destroyer in for offshore support while attacking from Tunisia as well. If Britain attacks your battleship, destroyer & transport on their turn with their fighter, destroyer and transport, you have the edge in defense numbers (4, 3, 1 vs. 3, 3 & NA) + the fact that it takes 2 shots to take down a battleship, so in essence its 4 vs. 2 and you should win this battle almost every time. On the 2nd turn, if Britain does not attack, pick up an artillery or infantry from Greece as well as the infantry from Crete for an amphibious assault on Egypt. You will have to use your battleship and destroyer to take out the British destroyer and transport, but again you have the attack numbers advantage (4, 3 vs. 3, 1) as well as the 2-shot battleship, so it is 3 vs. 2. Bring all of your forces from Libya to bear on Egypt along with the aforementioned amphibious assault. In subsequent rounds use your remaining forces to push through the middle east to Russia. This middle-east strategy does not seem very popular on the forum, but moving the German battleship, destroyer and transport to the Atlantic and leaving the British with all of their naval and ground units in tact will allow them to take Germany out of Africa rather quickly and force Germany to leave defensive forces in Greece and Southern Italy that could be used on the Russian front. Taking Britain out of Africa has 3 benefits: it allows Germany to leave places like Greece and Southern Italy completely undefended and gives them the ability to bring those units to bear on Russia, it takes money directly out of the allies pockets and is much more long term than attacking the convoys and it will eventually expose the Russian southern flank and force Russia to shift valuable units to Caucasus for defense. Using these 3 strategies in combination will put you in the drivers seat and will keep the allies on the defensive for a few rounds.

one of my russian strategies is to feep the germans bottled up in east poland/baltic states/ukraine as long as possible, and then i retreat to turkestan w/ almost all of my men. if they try to go north to russia, i counter attack. if the go down the middle to bellorussia, i counterattack. if they go south to caucasus or stalingrad, then i counterattack. usually by this point ( turn 3 or 4) i have beaten the germans in the far north, and i have at least 4 russian fighters and 3 bombers, 3 or 4 tanks, the rest of my infantry that i retreated with + all the infantry i have bought so far, plus the 8 or 9 artillery i have to counterattack with.

if the allies don’t start building transports then germany has no pressure on the fatherland and can build a 10 turn stack if he wants. Transports are needed even if you never invade france so that germany stops building men and builds tanks. at that point you know how many turns it is to moscow, and you can transport into leningrad, convert, and be ready for the belocounter
