I think that the term “friendly” is used in the same context as the Dutch territories are to UK Pacific and ANZAC. You can land a “friendly” plane there, but you don’t actually take the territory until you place a land unit in it.
-
The only distinctions btw friendly and pro are that aircraft can land in friendly and aircraft can fly over friendly without restriction.
-
Good explanations, I will add supplementary explanations.
Friendly means the territory has joined the alliance (is part of the Axis or the Allies) and is no longer neutral. Therefore planes can land there and planes from both sides can fly over.
“Pro-Axis” or “Pro-Allies” means it is still neutral. Territories remain pro-axis or pro-allies until they are activated/claimed OR attacked at which time they become friendly to one of the sides (even if attacked and no infantry are lost).
There is no such thing as declaring war on the neutrals, so if you click declare war on neutrals in Triple A but then don’t actually attack one, then you actually haven’t done anything and no territories will change.
-
One final clarification… triplea doesn’t handle the neutrals correctly in almost every regard so beware.
-
Yeah you already said that :-)

don’t think i can stress it enough. reading your post, one might think tripleA could possibly be trusted in come cases to do something right…

I have no idea what you’re talking about

“There is no such thing as declaring war on the neutrals, so if you click declare war on neutrals in Triple A but then don’t actually attack one, then you actually haven’t done anything and no territories will change.”
This is the sentence i was referring to. Not sure how each and every person would interpret this so wanted to reiterate that no matter what tripleA does, do not trust it to do anything correctly when it comes to the neutrals.

Imho you are dramatizing the issue.
Most of the time it doesn’t affect your plane paths at all. Only very few cases (like India -> TRJ) are really important.
Other than that, I have not needed to edit anything so far.

roboto: what does that mean dramatizing the issue?
-
It appears you have to be super careful whenever you are doing something with neutrals - attacking them, flying over them, walking into them…
In my experience you almost never have to give them special treatment.
-
You might be breaking rules without knowing it, too, Roboto
Bold - I said nothing that could be interpreted to say that you can rely on TripleA in any way, in fact, the phrase you quoted was yet another way of me saying TripleA is wrong.
Roboto - it is very important to understand the neutral rules and to be watching for violations. It is extremely major sometimes, and India-TrJ is not what I’m referring to…. More like India-Moscow, or attacking Turkey or Spain and then fly off somewhere else, etc. It is a major enough issue that there should be no argument about whether it is important to understand the rules clearly. It is important.
-
Gamer I knew what you meant just wast sure others would so wanted to give one more disclaimer to tripleA, which we all of course love. Some of us just wish the developers understood the rules and some of the nuances of the game a little better.
-
I thought I needed to get in 8 games before the season ended. I will do.
Would someone explain why I thought this was the necessary number and for what exactly?
Thank you.
And I am not drunk! -
Apologies. Have just gone to page 1 for the answer.
Pretend I am drunk. -
One question……in the bid is possible for China to place units that are not infantries or artilleries…for example you can place a tank or a fighter in Yunnan with the bid?
thanks
-
Senor_Ralpa,
The league bidding rules do not prohibit these Chinese units. The league rules permit just about anything if you and your opponent agree.
I recommend you check with your opponent and if you’re both OK with it prior to bidding, then it’s fine. Jennifer has said before that they are all allowed, however you will note the league rules do not expressly permit these units either. It is reasonable for a player to have a problem with these units, as they are not included in the physical game and are pretty clearly not intended to be included in the game any more than a nuclear sub is.
Check with your opponent before bidding. If he’s fine with it, then go crazy. If not, I think you should agree with him.
-
We will probably limit Chinese bid units to Infantry, Artillery and Fighters in the future however. We have just failed to do so up until this point and I am not a fan of suddenly altering things in the middle of a league year, which is why we have not changed it.
We’ll have a league rule discussion over what should be changed, added or removed later….probably early October.
-
thank you for your answers, it´s an interesting issue……in my opinion it must be forbidden too in the bid the use of fighters for the chinese…but probably will open amazing oportunities too
-
I am not in favor of preventing you from being permitted to bid for units China can legally have in the game. My only concern is if we should allow them to bid for mech infantry or tanks. One tank in Yunnan could have drastic changes on game play.
