2014 G40 league rules

I am not opposed to a ladder system, per se.    Something similar to:

    1.         Initial positions on the ladder are determined randomly.  New members of the League are added to the bottom of the ladder.

    2.         You may challenge anyone who is one, two, three, or four spots above you on the ladder.  If you are challenged to a ladder game, and you are not already in a game, you must play.  (A refusal to play is treated as a loss - except by approval of league moderators Jennifer and Gamerman on a case by case basis - i.e. your wife is giving birth this week and you don’t want to get embroiled in a game just now.) Â

    3.         The player making the challenge makes the first bid. Â

    4.         If the lower-ranked player wins, the lower-ranked player takes the higher-ranked player’s spot on the ladder, and the higher-ranked player moves down one spot.

    5.         If the higher-ranked player wins, there is no change in the players’ rankings.

    6.         If the game ends in a draw, the lower-ranked player takes the spot just below the higher-ranked player.  Draws by agreement must be approved by a moderator.

    7.         After a ladder game is played, at least one of the players must play a ladder game against someone else before they are allowed to play each other again.

May have to make reporting just wins/loses from each side in a thread with absolutely no other commentary - or better yet, PM them and then create a spreadsheet in a thread that can be updated. Â

Please note, I am ONLY tossing out examples, I am not saying “it will be…” And if the general consensus is we want to go with something along this route, then it won’t take effect until 1/1/2015 at the earliest.

Oh, and to clarify, when I do random matchups, I put everyone into two equal columns in MS Excel (2007) and tell it to randomize…it’s not truly random, but eh…small sample size, sure it does not matter too much.  It’ll change.

Of course, instead of random, we could just take Gamer’s results and just plug the players into it as well…be less changes in the first few weeks.

    Cmdr Jennifer,

I like it.  The changes I’d suggest are

    1. Initial positions are determined by Gamer’s ranking.

    2. A new round of challenges begins every 2 months.  Or perhaps every month.

    3. Before the new round begins, each player declares if they will participate.  The penalty for not participating is losing 3-5 spots on the ladder.

I’m not sure how you would do this ladder system when players are playing multiple games at once – I think our current system is working very well to encourage play.  I think only the playoff system needs a slight tweak.

    agreed.

  • TripleA

I am surprised people still play revised.

AA50 way better. Revised is super luck oriented. My R1 attacks failed BOO. G1 attacks egypt, BATTLESHIP LOSES TO DESTROYER BOOOOOOO.

TRANSPORT LIVES AFTER DD CARRIER ATTACK IT.  BOOOOOOO. booo boobo boboboob.

  • TripleA

DO NOT GET ME STARTED WITH THE BALTIC FLEET.

  • TripleA

I beat Bayder the #1 ladder player who plays revised tournaments on other forums 9 games strait. 3 dice, 4 low luck, 2 extreme low luck. HE BLAMES LUCK EVERYTIME AND I AGREE LOOL. My destroyer literally diced his bship, giving him something silly like 10 ELL points or something, I did not even understand his ELL spreadsheet, but I did not care.

He got all these ELL points and I had none, because I was hitting everything in low luck. He was raging so hard.

Funny thing is he invented ELL after I beat him in a low luck game because I diced him in low luck.

  • TripleA

I never got to play him in a ladder game oddly enough, only on the triple a lobby when he was really desperate for a game and I was the only one on.

  • TripleA

I am proud of lone transports hitting a 1 after a lone fighter or bomber comes in only to miss. I am proud of my baltic fleet hitting the 4 and the other 4 and then the 3. I am proud of my lone destroyer dicing the lone battleship.

I am proud to hit when it counts.

Still I cannot imagine a tournament of revised.

  • TripleA

Who I am kidding, I love revised. Transports rolling 1s is so much fun

  • TripleA

2 - You may play anyone in the league, but only to best of 3 games per opponent will count in standings.  EXCEPTION: If you and your opponent have each completed 13+ games during the league year, best of 5 games will count in the standings.

Just to clarify a limit of 2 wins per opponent until both players hit 13+ games in which case it becomes 3 wins. It is not 3 or 5 total games.

So what happens if two players play their best of 3… start all 3 games at the same time then one player wins all 3 games? One of them will not count?

You do realize you do not need to hit “post” every 3 sentences?

    @MrRoboto:

You do realize you do not need to hit “post” every 3 sentences?

You do realize this is a thread about league rules and not about axis and allies revised?

  • I’m not sure if this is where to ask, but can I get a rules clarification?

Under what circumstances can you fly over neutrals? Can you fly over in combat move if you attack them the same turn?

You cannot fly over and past them in combat.  You can only fly over and past them in noncom, and only if you attacked the specific territory you want to fly over.  The planes flying over need not have been part of the attack.  Clear?

You can attack a neutral during combat phase with planes they just can’t fly over AND past the neutral being attacked during combat phase.

  • The DOW on true neutrals is just a TripleA thing, right? Does that have any affect at all if you DOW on a prior turn, but don’t actually attack anything? If you attack a territory on an earlier turn, can you fly over it freely?

tripleA handles the neutrals completely wrong - don’t trust anything it does.  you can only fly over a neutral territory that you actually attacked.  on the turn you attack any neutral, the rest of the neutrals, for all intents and purposes i believe, become like pro-the other side-neutrals.  the one(s) you actually attack become friendly to the other side, meaning they can land aircraft there immediately, unless you took the territory of course.
