OK, a tier 1 player finishing his 4th game and going from default tier 3 to tier 1 causes a lot of ripples in the standings, with a lot of players getting more points as a direct or indirect effect.

Again, for anyone who doesn’t realize, it is necessary to assign relatively unknown players (players who played 5 or less games in G40 in 2012 and have 3 or less so far in 2013) to a default tier (tier 3) to remove judgment calls and bias from the official league standings. One unfortunate side effect of this method is that until a tier 2 or tier 1 player finishes 4 games, their opponents will only get credit for beating a tier 3. (The opposite effect is true when the player ends up being a tier 4) But as long as these new players finish 4 games by league year end, this is only a temporary effect.
