sucker punched by cheesy Italian sea lion. That won’t happen again.
UK`s destiny was sealed. If it was not Italy, it would be Germany to take it.
-
Yeah that wasn’t really the sucker punch though. The sucker punch was stacking Rome with planes to suggest a Cairo grab so I send planes to Africa, and then following up with SBR and round 4 sealion. That’s a very good move but you only get to fool a guy once with that kind of stuff

I agree. We all grow with exp, and we learn from our mistakes and defeats. My three losses against Karl help me a lot to see, what and where to improve.
U are a good opponent and I hope our new game will be interesting :)

Disastrous airstrike on Japan’s turn two lost entire japanese airforce. diced again.

diced again.
I had a look into the game. First of all, the dice were in your favor up to that point.
Second: That attack on Szechwan was super risky. On Average -40 TUV! Of course this can go bad
Third: After that first round, you could have retreated. The loss would still have been great, but not that -129 you eventually had, “only” -81.

U showed some good moves with Axis in this game. I hope we will play a third game sometimes, no matter the side. Cheers :)

It is all correct.
He went into a risk, if he had won this one, the game would slightly switch to his side. That is the choice of risk. I personally avoid it, whenever I can.

OK guys, if japan wiped out the Russian airforce that move Russia would have been in for an early death, especially building tacs and artillery instead of infantry and marching the Siberians East instead of West. I was happy to accept losses to Japan’s airforce IF if meant wiping out those elite Russian units. The objective failed and that’s game over. And that is bad dice.
-
I understand your reason, WHY you wanted to attack Szechwan. It doesn’t mean it was a good decision.
When Russia puts so much effort into Japan, just react accordingly with Germany. Russia is doomed after that investment into China. Making a super risky move with Japan just to speed up the process is totally unnecessary.
You had bad dice in that one fight, but you didn’t lose because of bad dice.
To make it more simple: You had around 80% chance success in that attack. If it fails, you give up (as you did). That means that 1 in 5 times, you would lose the game. And for what? For defeating Russia one round earlier in 4 out of 5 times?
-
If I didn’t kill the Russians they would drive/fly back to Moscow. Its a very good defense for India but the weakness is it could (should) cost Russia the game. Anyway we should leave this thread for game results not advice and discussion.
-
Yeah - a little game post-mortem and analysis from time to time is fine though
This game is so complicated and everyone has different strategies, usually the best way to support your opinions and strategies is to play them. It’s nice to hear short summaries of games, though. We should have a thread for that or something.
Or as someone said a while back - it might be cool to have an unbiased observer of games write news reports or something like that on league games

That sounds cool. I think I would do that from time to time, if someone points me out to an interesting game :-)

If decide to try this, and you start a thread in the league section, let me know so I can get it stickied.

Yeah, U do not have to have some strict limits. If U have time, and U find a few interesting games, write about them, if not take a 3 week pause np 8-)

Yes, I agree. Anything anyone writes is a bonus, so starting would not lock you into a commitment.
Example:
"This just in! Variance’s Axis have made an all or nothing attack against Karl’s Moscow! Allies have stormed the beaches of Normandy and are swarming across North Africa. The USA has a stranglehold on the Carolines! Will the Germans prevail in Moscow? It would seem they must!
