I will let you play and learn. Don’t really like handicaps. Once you get the feel of it you will understand. This or these first few games will not count towards your credibility as a great strategist. Don’t worry just have fun.

You will see why I like this so much and was really confused with alpha 3 rules. Subs in that game were like kings in the sea. A battleship with an aircraft carrier loaded to the brim with planes couldn’t even touch the sub, unless you had a destroyer present. I can see the reasoning behind it but it was a bit unrealistic. Destroyers were fitted with sonar early in the war and were fast ships able to do circles around subs. Later in the war most cruiser class and capital ships were fitted with sonar. So you should be able to attack subs with cruisers and battle ships in Alpha 3 after say turn 3 or 4. Also aircraft should have a first round of strafing on subs if they are not accompanied by ships after turn 2 or 3.

That’s the only rule I didn’t like or agree with in the axis and allies series of games. Also the turn sequencing with troops loaded on transports that are doing non combat moves. I forgot them on the ships because in NWO you can do non combat moves even during combat phase.

All in all I find NWO much smoother and steamlined than Alpha 3. But I put up with alpha 3 because most of my friends play on it.

On the aside……

It seems we have a challenger to NWO or Alpha 3, but we as a team can not take the challenge on until one of us becomes proficient with both games.
