I recommend to finish current games with 2.6 and then start new games with 2.7.
Also, yes, all players should have the latest version installed.
2.7 is still in pre-status however.

Yes. Just use Play by Email instead - and instead of sending emails just post the turn summary manually (copy/paste) and attach a manually created savegame.

You don’t need to setup the mail configuration.

Just to echo what Panther said, all I did was update my JDK installation.

Triple A then picked up and used the latest JDK.
