I’d prefer to see the map. To be honest, I feel I all but lost here. I have 7 VC’s in the Pacific right now but have LONG odds to hold them for the duration of the round.
-
Unfortunately I had to leave yesterday for a family vacation… and just got home. As I thought, my wife had shut off the computer, so I lost the map that was in progress. I’ll need to reconstruct it from the Marti dice rolls and send it your way –
Did you mean six VCs? I counted Hawaii, Japan, Phillipines, India, Kwangtung, and Kiangsu.
-
Six it is.
-
When you said seven, I got worried there was a hidden VC somewhere… :-)
What I’m doing is reconstructing the map through the rolls sent to our e-mails. So I’ll reroll and then correct through editing offline. I think it makes sense also for me to continue the rolls here on the this site, once you’ve chosen your round 2 casualties. Then at the end of it all, I’ll edit the map and send it as an attachment.
I can’t think of another way to keep this moving.
I still have PTSD from the first round, and I’ve found it hard to drag myself back to the computer, but it has to happen :|
-
Ok - here’s the round with combat moves. The platform won’t allow editing and dice in a mix, so I’ll have to go back and edit all at once after all the rolls are done.
The map shows what it looked like to start - as of this round, you took six original hits - I had tipped your two battleships and four of your carriers.
I lost 6 of my subs, 9 fighters, and the destroyer. So I have 5 subs, 3 tacs, and 10 bombers left to start round 2.
On round 2, it started with one sub hit, and I got 10 more hits with my aircraft. So you have a total of 17 hits to take before rolling your round 2 defense.
US purchased 5 transports, 2 fighters, a carrier, 4 infantry, and an artillery.
-
Hidden VC, ha, I wish. I’ll take 7 carriers, a hit on each BB and the last carrier.
PS I don’t know what PTSD stands for.
-
Take the ships next. Air battle till the dust settles.

PTSD = Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, also known as shell shock :-)
I’ll take your casualties and roll your defense.

Let’s try that again.

Ok, so I have 6 bombers and a sub left over. I’ll retreat.
You have 2 tipped battleships, a tipped carrier, and a cruiser left at sea. You have 5 fighters and 5 tac bombers that can land on Hawaii.
All in all, considering I should have killed all of your boats and aircraft and still had sixteen units remaining, that was a staggeringly bad battle for me. Frankly, in nearly 30 years of playing, it may have been the worst I’ve ever experienced in a battle of that scale, involving the value of the units.
On average, I should have won with 10 bombers, 3 tacs, and 3 fighters remaining. I retreated with 6 bombers and a sub remaining. Shift in value = 105 IPCs.
You should have lost everything, but were left with 2 damaged battleships, a damaged carrier, a cruiser, 5 tacs, 5 fighters and 4 transports = 209 IPCs extra.
Add the two together = 314 IPC shift in value. Wow. It is unlikely that either of us will ever see a shift like that again.
I need to reroll everything, then edit the map to reflect what happened the first time I rolled - it’s all captured between Marti and here on the site. It’ll take me a little while, then I’ll post it, then take China’s turn.
-
Here’s the map after US turn.

Well now. I’m almost sorry to do this, as that turn took a considerable amount of effort. But I must concede defeat. Even with all the luck I needed even more. Thanks for the game enjoyed it very much. I’m up for a second, as was discussed at the onset. Hope you don’t mind the slow pace?
I have the updated version of tripleA. For my bid I’ll take a fighter in Scotland.
Congratulations on your victory.
-
Thanks sir - I didn’t mean to get too wacky with that last sea battle, but it was something I’d never seen before, and I was pretty well flabbergasted.
Yes, I’m in for a second! I’ll try to start it up tonight, if I can - and the Scottish fighter is a nice bid choice.
