I have not had time to check the links posted but while on the topic of best war movies, I would vote Patton. Screw all those special effects, ill take oscar winning (and refusal to accept) Georce C. Scott. That entire movie is amazing just to simply watch him portray Patton. I heard Patton in real life actually had a higher pithed voice and it would someone squeak. He was pretty embarrassed about it

This was broadcast on Soviet television in the late 70’s and the effort spared no expense for extras because they used actual Soviet soldiers and the budget was basically unlimited. The portrayal all the Germans and Soviets is extremely good. The sets are very realistic and the battles consist of perhaps 10,000 or more soldiers, plus hundreds of tanks ( the germans are mostly tiger 1’s and some decent mockups of elephant and panther).

all the battlefield combat scenes are panoramic which is IMO the only way to film a war movie. You can literally see the 10,000 soldiers.

however no english subtitles of this exist. My girlfriend has to translate for me ( shes from Odessa). You wont find any copies of this with english either. I have tried for many years to do this but to no avail. I own all these movies and they are amoung my favorite of all time.

It will cost you at least 100 bucks for the set of movies, unless you rent them from a russian video store and make copies.

Babylon 5 was a great show to. I wish it was still on tv and each season didn’t cost 100 dollars

Yes, most of the positions in the government are based on election, though often these elections are rigged. There hasn’t been once been a successful and smooth transfer of power (usually ending in bloody coups) since it went communist

Well, everybody is entitled to his or her own opinion. Personally, I really didn’t like the whole “young” Bobba Fett thing. Same goes with Jango, I would’ve liked him better if he had kept his mask on. Lets hope that we don’t see Bobba offing Mace in the next movie! But aside from that, Star Wars was great for me. It was a little long, but I enjoyed every minute of it. You really need to be able to set yourself for the next movie and have a bit of everything for every Star Wars junkie like me. And the scenery was plain majestic. I loved how they recreated Naboo and Courscant. But let me tell you, Ep. III better have a galactic star better than is at least on par with Endor (no single A-wings destroying the Executor or Ewoks please?), OR ELSE!!! :wink:
