Both players have to be thinking both that they don’t want to give anything to their opponent and they want to a good position if htey end up with allies. I think that might lead to well placed but low cost units (which along with a fig or two makes the most sense in a standard bid game.

Looks like the Italian holiday is over soon…Egypt will not fall. I wonder if it would have helped to move mroe units to Egypt when I took it, so that you would not have taken it with ANZAC and / or France.
In any case, it seems I forgot to evacuate Alexandria. Have no map right now, pls remove all units save one inf to Tobruk, or have it in mind when doing France and I edit before Germany.
