    Do realize that if the fighters sink your ships you’ll have to withdraw your amphib force and won’t be able to unload them? And then all your planes will have to do at least one round of combat before they can withdraw.

    Yep.  That’s that gamble I took.  :-o  Didn’t pay off this time.  Lost all my ships, and some of my planes, but I’ll come back!
