During the ANZAC turn, I will SBR Japan with 2 Bomber + the 2 Fighters.  We can save some time if you tell me now if you want to send up the Japanese Fighter or not.  I would assume you wouldn’t since you don’t have enough Interceptors to guarantee a Bomber hit.

    I concede.  Good game.

    Ok, thanks!

I’m almost going to miss the opportunity to seize Tokyo with ANZAC, but that is still a few moves away.

The J1 attack on Hawaii may be unwise.  The victory chance you get from TripleA can be misleading since it will always take your lowest-rolling units as losses first, so you can win even though TripleA assumed you took all your Carriers as losses, which then leaves your planes to die.  Japan probably lost too many ships too early which allowed me to use UK-Pacific to save Russia’s bacon.

It’s a better move than as show by this game.  What this game showed me was the importance of doing OOL round by round instead of a static OOL for the entire battle.  I would have picked differently on the losses during your counter attack if I had known how many hits there were in the early rounds, etc.

Well the biggest mistake there from my view was that you didn’t buy any replacement Destroyers in the turn of the big battle.  Even in a session where we went round-by-round I would have been sure to keep some amount of Subs going to the end when I could have seen you only bought Carriers.  But in that particular round, I think Japan was already off the mainland, so a somewhat different outcome in that particular battle wouldn’t have mattered that much.  Still important though to handle things round-by-round if you’re not assured of a total wipeout of the enemy.

Well, if you buy all subs as the US, then I can simply leave my planes on the island and retreat until I purchase DDs.  With no TTs, you can’t take Hawaii back and it becomes a big airbase.
