sigh… third battle this game where I didn’t retreat after round 1 like I should have. This last one may have been one time too many, but we’ll see.

Thinking over how the next few rounds are going to play out, I can see I botched the Pacific badly with that ANZAC move (not that my other choices would be a huge improvement). It’s pretty sad that Japan can forfeit China and not be any worse off. Hold the DEI and Malaya to keep your income up and block the Allies’ NOs and you don’t need to do much else all game. This game will end quickly depending on what happens in Europe.

For what it’s worth, I feel we’re pretty evenly matched. I’ll have time tomorrow to make some observations / start a dialog about the game play.

I think most players’ plan in terms of what the Axis do, and how the Allies react. This is fair enough as the Axis hold most of the initiative in the cards with regards to when Russia and the US get into the game.
Once you establish what the game plan for the Axis is (G1/J1 G2/J2 G1/J4 G3/J1, whatever) then you go about executing it.
Specific to your comment though, on the pacific side, I think the north board is a trap for all three powers (USSR, USA, Japan) If any of these guys make a move there, you can deend if your Japan, shrug if your Russia, and waste moves and resources if your the US. Giving up China once Russia and US decides to “save it” is just fine with me. All those guys are just going to get land locked holding a pile of purple land that really doesn’t benifit the Allies much.
Like all AnA games, Global is ultimately about the economy more than anything. You can deny your enemy cash in three ways. Take his land, kill his pieces through superior position, or bomb/convoy him ot death.
My Western Axis plan, which has yet to win me a game btw, is to bomb the UK, take Africa, and hold up Russia.
If I had to judge my own play so far in the 2013 season is that I have plan…but no idea how to plan to win. I have tried early and late Japan but never come close to 6 VC. I have gotten to 7 with the western axis, but died at Moscow.
Still some game inthis one, but that’s my 2 cents.
