Evening Herr KaLeun. I too have always been surprised that this charge was the last large scale one, but it is how I remember it.
Just to be sure, I did google last  British cavalry charge and found and read of the one you mention about an hour ago!

I havent heard anything about modern human footprints being found in million-year-old rock but let me guess at who found it, okay?  Was it a “creation-scientist”?  Or someone funded by the Discovery Institute or some other religiously-based “think tank”?  Probably  :roll:  Also,if evolution is a religion,then I am a devout believer!!   Darwin is the Son of God!!! Under the Bismarck sortie the BC Prince of Whales should have been finished off and the 2 ships together made way for Brest. Then waited for Tirpitz to come out along with Scharnhorst and Gneisenau (spelling). Those 4 BB would have been something to behold. The admiralty would have been in stiches. Most of her capital ships were on convoy escort in many locations and the Germans had the advantage of deciding to focus on a single point of there choosing.

But not all of the Jellyfish stings. Only there spaghetti like legs(I’m not sure if you call them flagella on a Jelly…)can sting you! :)

So therefore, something could eat the top of it and weaken it enough that it can’t do anything! :)

I’m sorry, but just slapping a tailhook on a Bf109 would not make it a viable carrier plane. The 109 had a light airframe & very strong torque at low airspeeds–not to mention its notoriously weak landing gear arrangement. It was difficult enough to take off & land a Bf109 from land bases–IMO it would be nearly impossible at sea. Upon hitting an arresting wire a 109 would probably just disintegrate–that is if it didn’t flip over onto its back first! The 109 was a buckin’ bronco & would probably have had to have been either completely redesigned or replaced by another aircraft better-suited to naval duty. Perhaps a modified FW190, but probably an all-new design…
